Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Quarrels are the occupation of cowards.

Bullies are cowards.

There is a theory about body language that says,

“Though the mouth lies, the body does not lie.”

“That most of communication is non-verbal.”

“That a man on guard might use silence or other means to deceive, but the body language is beyond his control and does not always cooperate and gives him away.”

Let us consider the bullies.

They have some advantage in their minds and act accordingly. If it were up to them, they would push you to the brow of the city but lack courage to push you all the way down.

We who belong to Jesus have lost our fear of those who can hurt the body but cannot kill the soul. Thus, apparently this courage drives the bully crazy because you cannot fear him.

The follower of Jesus is dead in Christ  And he no longer lives but Jesus in him who is the hope of glory. Remember that dead people do not have feeling of anything.

Bullies avoid eye contact for fear of being known for what they are because the body does not lie. Bullies do not need a reason on their side to antagonize anyone but only the arrogant pride of self-righteousness of the Pharisees. Their message is the same: Crucify him!!

That means, “Silence Him”. Their favorite magnet on their Refrigerator reads: “Those who think they know so much are annoying to those of us who really know everything.”

These quarrelsome individuals are in the business of silencing people but they themselves are not friends of the truth who raises her voice on the street corners. Truth’s breath is fresh not like the breath of those who only open their mouth to tear apart the name of others.

The beauty when fighting with a quarrelsome person is that they do not fight against you but someone greater that you and that is a person. That person is Jesus because the truth is a person and that is Jesus who said “I am the Truth.”

When you are under attack by active or passive aggressors remember them who society has already named them as “Little men with power.”

These little men love to belittle others to feel good.

At that time, you must remember that a man in order to destroy your name has to have a nicer or bigger name.

But “Bigger men” are not in the business of tearing apart the name of others, instead they rejoice at the sight of great men. Like the disciples of John the Baptist they heard John but followed Jesus and it was okay with John about whom Jesus said, “There is no man born of Roman greater that John the Baptist.”

True greatness is not competing to build my own name but lifting the name of Jesus who said “If I am lifted up, I will draw all men unto myself,”

In your struggle with quarrelsome people, Stay in the arena just long enough to step out and leave the quarrelsome bully fighting with Jesus - fighting as with the rabbit against the tar baby until he gets stuck with Jesus. As the bully fights with Jesus you become the spectator on the sidelines rejoicing.

Following Jesus is so fun because it’s his fight not ours.

This was the armor-bearer of Jesus on duty.
