Gerry Gutierrez' Update
“God leads into temptation.”
God also delivers from temptation as the just and justifier. God makes us more than conquerors in and through temptation. God is the Land Lord of the kingdom where temptation occurs. God has the power to deliver us from evil and the Evil one. God alone is powerful and is to be glorified forever and ever.
Jesus taught us to pray: “Lead us not into temptation.” In the universe where the perfect God is sovereign, everything is under his blessed control. Even in the book of Job the initiative for temptation is not of the tempter but of God who from beginning to end will be victorious and faithful to any confrontation where he leads purposefully those that are his.
Temptation is common to all men and together with the temptation God who is well aware of temptation provides a door to escape temptation. It could be said that God is a partner of men when they are tempted, therefore God is well aware and sure victory is of God who delivers man from temptation.
Once again salvation is of the Lord who is able to deliver from Evil. To God belongs the whole kingdom. God alone has the power to deliver from temptation therefore his alone is the glory and honor forever and ever amen.
All too often we give too much credit to the evil one as the author and the leader into temptation as if he was somehow partially sovereign over God’s kingdom while God is presented as in a defensive posture coming only as an answer to a 911 call to help us from irreparable damage.
God is the Land Lord of the Kingdom and he is Lord of all or not Lord at all. God is the Blessed controller of all things. Not a single hair falls from your head or a little sparrow falls to the ground without his blessed consent.
Even in the times of Jesus, it was the Spirit that led Jesus into the Desert to be tempted by the Devil and it was the same spirit that gave him victory that the last celebration of that confrontation in temptation is that angels came down to serve Jesus. The soul who stands up for Jesus does not stand-alone because Jesus already stood up for him. Believers face temptation in the strength of the Lord.
The work of Jesus on the cross has been completed; nothing lacking including sure victory over temptation; therefore, yours is the glory and honor forever and ever. Salvation is salvation from past sins, present sins and future sins.
Salvation is a consummated fact; therefore, there is room only for gratitude, thanksgiving, worship, praise, glory and honor to him who delivers us.
Gerry Gutierrez.
