Gerry Gutierrez' Update

“For those who are in need of deliverance.”

God is the Lord of those who need him only.

“For those who are in need of deliverance.”

The following words are the confession of a powerful king who was known as, “The man after God’s own heart.” David speaks of God as one who has just delivered him from his enemies and he credits God alone for this deliverance.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2.

David is a regular giant killer such as Goliath, a killer of lions and bears, a courageous man, a fearless man, yet he speaks tenderly with genuine gratitude to God as one who knows from first-hand experience the grace of God that is equivalent to a rock, to a shield, to a fortress and a place of refuge.

You have to be one who has gone through the valley of the shadow of death in your lifetime and many times over in order to speak with confidence to doubting people that in this world there is only one God who cares, who loves, who protects, who defends and who indeed is a true deliverer.

Every believer throughout the ages has found refuge in this verse because they believe by firsthand experience of a courageous man who was a faithful witness testifying about the nature of God as one who delivers.

What should be mentioned here as a message of conviction is that if men needed a deliverer, he must have been in bondage of different kinds according to their time in history and experienced what the Lord has allowed them to live.

If there is one thing that we share with every other human being is our need for deliverance. Thus, we are confessing that we are in bondage, we are in need of deliverance, protection and cover. Unless you humbly accept your need for deliverance you will never experience the power, the love and the grace of the deliverer in Jesus.

It should be fitting to say that people need the Lord, people need the Lord, yes people need the Lord.

I beseech every believer everywhere to remember God as a deliverer and at the same time remember oneself as in need of deliverance. Nothing else will honor God but the true truth of dependence from God in a childlike manner.

Even though this passage is a personal testimony of a private walk of a man and his God, it is mentioned here by God to encourage those in need of deliverance. For if God can do this for David, he can certainly do that for me, for God is the same yesterday today and forever. God changes not. Therefore we are not consumed in bondage but we are truly delivered by the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ps. It is Monday morning and after only three hours of sleep I am going to face Dialysis. I am not complaining, but the last hour of each session is unbearable in the flesh yet my spirit needs your prayers my family and friends.

Your prayers are welcome. Pray that I might be delivered, as it has been the case most of my life.
