Gerry Gutierrez' Update
A boomerang letter timely delivered thanks to FaceBook.
Dear Friends and family, Judge for yourselves this boomerang letter.
This morning I barely made it through the night's agony. Weak as I was, I managed to receive the Door Dash order that my Nathaniel ordered from McDonald's Big Breakfast. As I sat to have breakfast my habit of reading my Email took me to open a page from FaceBook where this letter written by me was ready to be read again after several years. Needless to say that not only the content of the letter but the timing of this boomerang letter has been an encouragement once again. I believe God to be in the timing. I hope it is a blessing to you as it has been to me.
Gerry Gutierrez.

You are not alone. “ANGELS”
The day when faith
becomes sight it will be the day when I will close my bank account of faith as
I meet Jesus my banker. As Spurgeon says,
speaking about expectations: “We shall die soon; and then our “expectation is from him.” Do we
not expect that when we lie upon the bed of sickness he will send angels to
carry us to his bosom? We believe that when the pulse is faint, and the heart
heaves heavily, some angelic messenger shall stand and look with loving eyes
upon us, and whisper, “Sister spirit, come away!” As we approach the heavenly
gate, we expect to hear the welcome invitation, “Come, ye blessed of my
Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” ATM stands for
Automatic Teller Machine where a customer gets fast cash from his account. ATM
for other means Ugly Teller Machine as opposed to the young beautiful girls at
the bank. ATM to me has a new meaning, Angelical Transporter Messenger. Who is this ATM? Whatever your present situation might be, the one thing you must
remember is that in this cold, lonely, dark, violent, dangerous and humongous
universe you are not alone by the grace and love of God. “The angel of the
Lord encamps near those who fear him and defends them.” There is a popular saying in the Andes Mountains of Peru where I
come from, when an elderly person observes a young
child he usually says this as he blesses a child, “Este niño
tiene ángel.” This
means, “This little child has an angel.” It seems to be that some children
in their view already show signs of having such angel and there are those who
do not have such angels. Our verse in question talks about “nearness” of angels on the
basis of a discriminatory fact and that this is a promise only to those who
fear God. Next to the covenant tend of a believer there is another tend
where the angel of the Lord encamp invisible to the naked eye but visible
enough to the eyes of faith. “Believe in the Lord
Jesus and you shall be saved, you and you household.” The covenant of God with Abraham was for
him and his household. By faith that which was true for Abraham is true
for us who believe in Jesus and fear God. My possessive and consuming
love for my children finds peace and rest in this great truth that my Covenant
keeping God will be near my children just as he is near me and the occupants of
my covenant tend. From the Covenant tend of my house to yours my dear neighbor,
blessings. You are not alone. You are under care. Gerry Gutierrez.
