Would you like to have a second chance?

 

I remember once reading about a Man lamenting about his past life and wishing to have a second chance saying; “If I could only have another opportunity. If I could only have the opportunity to begin again.” “How I wish to be born again like a little child and live life with the experience I have now.”

 

That is precisely what the Gospel of Jesus is. Let us read the following verse.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

 

God did not wait until you came to the point of awareness about your need for a second opportunity in order to pray as one provoked by starving hunger to God.

Long before anyone alive in our generation was born the first time, the Lord had already answered that hunting prayer of our hearts with a second birth.

 

The American Indians by common grace knew how to claim in their proverb their need for good judgment as a result of a second chance. “Good judgments come from experience and experience comes from bad judgments.” There is Nothing like sin and failure to drive us back to the Lord and his Gospel of second chances.

 

There is such a thing as the Theology of crisis that God uses effectively for his own glory and the blessing of many and the good of the elect.

The timely advice I would offer as one Acquainted with grief and a man of sorrows is this, do not be distracted with pain and sorrow. There is a blessing in disguise in every testing, as surely as there is a wide smile behind his frown.

 

He wounds us in order to heal us so we can become wounded healers acquainted with the sorrow of others. Remember that the cross is part of the Gospel. God did not spare his own son. No pain no gain.

 

The second chance is not only a correction or a recalculation but it is a New Beginning as if you had never existed before.  Imagine in present terms that your Computer is not only Refurbished and defragmented but it is a New Computer.

You can say Ya-hoooo!!! If you want.

 

You might have a hard time trying to unlearn and forget the scars of the past and still have doubts saying, “This is a truth too good to be true.”

Beware not to sin against God by not believing his New Creation in you. By doing so you would be calling God a liar. Nothing is so close to the unforgivable sin. Think in a New Way because you are indeed new.
