Gerry Gutierrez' Update

The shaking of the head.

I took offense when Jesus was dying on the cross and people came in judgment and shook their heads at him as if saying, “What a waste, what a waste.”

With the eyes of speculation and my own imagination I tend to think that they must have had a sarcastic smile accompanied by disdain or even disappointment for his not living life on their terms.

The shaking of the head is not as innocent as it looks at first sight. It is a judgment over the life of one. It is a judgment that an amateur providence speaks with his head from the throne of the impostor who wants to play God in the life of others.

Those who shake their heads to the dying know now that there will be others that will shake their heads at you when their turn comes. Where does the idea of shaking heads come from, but from the abundance of the heart?

“The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45.

To shake your head against your fellow human being or stand indifferent at some distance in silence will not make any difference because the body has its own language understood by God.

In all fairness, I stand before you as one who has shaken his head against the living in intolerance and with lack of grace as the oneness in love was absent from the body. Sadly, I must admit that the Pharisee within me refuses to die.

Body language can be as clear as verbal language. In fact, what the lips can lie the body does not go along thereby betraying the verbal language, keeping man honest. Life at the end is a testimony that demands a verdict where the washing of the hands does not work.

Some lives may pass away quietly like the falling of a single leaf at the autumn breeze but the hand of God has already written their names in the book of God. Precious is to the Lord the death of his saints. If you must shake your head, then do it up and down. Grace approves.
