Gerry Gutierrez' Update
A letter from the Andes Mountains ... like CPR to me.
Dear Family and friends,
After a night of agony where I am no longer able to write or even read and struggling to pray, I manage to open a letter I wrote to a young couple some two years ago in what I called my attempt to "Mentor" them.
Please pray that I might believe that which once I believed with all my heart. "I am hurting." I need your prayers.
Gerry Gutierrez.
A letter from the Andes was delivered to me this morning. Thie following is a copy the letter which was sent to the young couple.
No wonder why A. Einstein said: Either I am crazy or the whole
world is crazy.
“Making a point.”
Your only “Option” in life is: To just to say “Yes Jesus.”
Life is without an “Option.” Life does not grant you the power to control anything. “Life ultimately is supposed to be so under the one sovereign God.” It took me over seventy years to remember how it was back in the Garden at the cool of the day. It takes a lifetime to unlearn some things and it also takes a lifetime to learn to hold all things loosely except for Jesus.
When by call and vocation I was confined for many months to few square feet in my house, I had plenty of time to process what I saw and heard in the News.
I have noticed in amazement, “How newscasters have become newsmakers and if that was not bad enough, they have become the News themselves.”
Let me offer some illustrations to make this point in our daily lives in 2020.
I see [in a TV ad] a vicious Skinny Chihuahua dog furiously barking at a “Great Dane” that in turn looks down understandably at the overgrown rat of a dog. There is nothing that the ridiculous Chihuahua will accomplish by his barking and temper tantrum.
I am not sure if this happens in real life, but I have seen it in “Cartoons” where a small mouse scares a massive elephant so that it makes it climb up a tree in fear. Can someone tell me that majestic elephants of legendary memory has not forgotten that elephants are greater in every way than the white little mouse?
It seems that fear can become irrational so that those who are to be courageous become cowards and those who are to be cowards become courageous.
When society has deteriorated to that point, values also suffer deterioration so that men begin to call Good evil and Evil good. Times such as these make room for heroes like Moses, Joshua, Caleb, Esther, Elijah, and David.
What do Elephants, Great Danes or a pack of German Shepherds [see picture below], Powerful Politicians and Remarkable believers have to do to solve their problems?
They only need to “Remember who they are,” stop running, turn around, and see how those that run after them will run from them. “Stop them in their tracks.”
It is “Anti-natural” for the lesser to make the greater to run. “Pound for pound the Chihuahua dog, the white mouse and a small cat are only great in their own minds. Again, Proverbs 3:7 warns, “Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun Evil.”
For us the source of courage comes from the fear of the Lord. It gives us the power to “Shun Evil.” If fear is like a charge in a battery, and we spend our charge by fearing God, then there is no fear left for anything else.
It’s like cold that is the absence of heat, so is courage, the absence of fear. Should you forget to remember who you are, then check whose hands rest on you and what kind of spirit governs your life. Should your feelings fail you also; then remember him who said in a tender and loving voice his promise of love, “I am with you always, to the end of the ages.”
Jesus has never failed anyone who believed in his name and took him at his word. “YOU WILL NOT BE THE FIRST.” Soon your name will also change without consultation to “VICTOR.” Even in your name you have no option because it has already been determined from before the foundation of the world for you to be VICTOR.
What are your options in a world where God is Sovereign? You really have no option dear VICTOR OR VICTORIA! “Salvation is of the Lord.” You are already condemned unto salvation and sentenced unto eternal life in Jesus.
This was your nagging reminder on duty for this Sunday August 9, 2020.
Gerry Gutierrez.
