Gerry Gutierrez' Update

“Control, sweet control.”

Control is the power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events or the ability to manage.

Control is the dream of the less qualified as if by control he or she will be automatically qualified to play an influential role.

What would a man not give to be an amateur Providence for just a little while? Things would be different and better? Different maybe but not better.

The most beautiful angel in the sight of God could not resist the temptation to control his life, the life of others and ultimately the control of God. This thirst for control converted this beautiful angel into the most awful demon and enemy of God. Control, sweet control, how I love you, yet you’re so evasive, you are so slippery.

There must be in some corner of our sinful and little simple mind the idea that God must need us to help to control his vast universe. Sinful man must think that God is like a man who needs vacation from his busy schedule like everybody. He should take a break and let me run the universe for a while. (Good work).

That sounds good except for one thing and that is God can control because he is God and God is able to Control. Man, no matter how great he may be in his own eyes, he is just a needy man unable to control or scratch an itch on his own back.

Control, beware of control it is more corrosive than rust to the metal and more terminal than cancer itself and more disgusting than anything in the whole universe.

God is the only blessed controller of all things because he is a sovereign God and you are not him. God is the Landlord of the Universe while man does not even own an inch of his own skin. But since I am committed to encourage the brethren by lifting up Jesus, let me say how you can be a benevolent controller with Jesus and his Gospel.

When all things are said and done, all that you leave behind is your influence on people. By Living the Gospel you forge a name for yourself that no one can take away because no one gives it to you but you have become one through a life of childlike obedience.

Jesus said: “The reason why my father loves me it is because I obey his commandments,”
