Gerry Gutierrez' Update
The brand “New Commandment of Jesus.”
Could it be possible that the new commandment of Jesus is like a new shoe in the closet that has never been used yet? We walk barefooted, unable to run and yet we are commanded to go where we are supposed to be.
Let us consider the following verse: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34,
This is a foundational verse where Jesus sets himself as the standard and the example of love and loving. Remember that God is love and Jesus is his son whom he loves and he is also love. When the measuring stick is provided by God himself to measure everything that had to do with love throughout generations, that means that from that moment on Jesus has spoken and the new commandment is supposed to be a revolutionary way of life.
Has somebody dropped the ball, to say the least? Let us shed a little light on this subject by making memories of the kind of love that Jesus found when he came to our world.
Love was at best a legalistic love. Love was a love of appearances. Love was for public consumption. Love was for the eyes of men. Love was a pharisaical love.
The love of God, which is from the heart of God to the heart of man, was absent. Up to that moment the practice of love was in direct proportion to the capacity of man’s imaginations and inputs only.
After Jesus revealed the love of God to men, the standards of love were supposed to change everything in the most radical conscious and purposeful manner.
Though the great Schema of Deuteronomy has been revealed, “To love God with all our hearts, with all our soul and with all our strength was already clearly given. The mind of how to love God was revealed in Jesus. It is Jesus who is the revelation of God. It is Jesus the God in the flesh who himself is the son of God that taught us to Love God properly.
Jesus’ personal example of words and deeds are to be taken in account when we want to fulfill love and obey God.
It is not a matter of numbers, statistics or grandiose buildings or organizations but personal love without even the sky as the limit. The New Commandment of Jesus makes us new lovers of Jesus with a new choice whereby you step into the holy of holies already with the curtain torn from top to bottom by Jesus. The love of Jesus for God starts with the smallest word in Scripture that is “YES.” Jesus said: “The reason why my father loves me is because I obey his commandment. The secret of life is to say “YES” to God.
The Trade Mark of the love of God in Jesus is in self-given as broken bread and poured out wine.
Thank you, Jesus for loving us in such a way and teaching us to love truly.

P.S. Please forgive me those who like my writings. A broken finger and OT and PT plus poor diet, surgeries and complications in healing have worn me out and slowed me down a little. Pictures are of my grandchildren and their friends last Sunday. The couple is Jerry and Cynthia visiting with delicious soup and cornbread. The rest is of Dialysis yesterday.
