Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Ours is a Religion of "Rest."

The secret of fruitfulness.

As simple and as transparent and as clear, the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, except it abides in the vine, so neither can you, except ye abide in Jesus.

Yesterday morning my Great grandson Emmaus Matthew was born. He is the first grandson of my daughter Lois from her firstborn Rachel. Mother and child are doing fine.

I cannot imagine that baby enjoying the fruit of life without abiding from the loving care and milk of her mother. Life is a gift from God but fruitfulness is the result of a relationship of interdependence. It will eventually bring Rachel a grandson, Lois a great grandson, and to me a greater grand grandson.

Jesús said, “I am the life.”

Unless we abide in Jesus, we shall not bear fruit. Do not confuse being alive as having life. Plants and animals and the rejects of the human race are alive but have no life. Jesús alone has the power and authority to impart life as he said in the following words:

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, except it abides in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.” John 15:4 .

Being alive is like chewing gum; you can only suck the sweet juice so much and no more. Having life is such that you do not need the chewing gum to feel like you exist or that you are sweet. The whole of your being is sweet to the core so that there is no need to come to the well to fetch a little water.

If you have Jesus, you are not to thirst for the bubblegum of the world again.

I felt focused this morning and that is the result of eight hours of sweetly abiding in the arms of Jesus last night.

Thank you, Jesus.
