“Cain and Abel.”

 

By his own admission, Cain was not his brother’s keeper.

Abel as his name indicates died “empty” of children but he was the best brother that one can possibly have.

 

A mentor is one who leads others by example rather than only words. Abel pleased God by worshiping God the right way. 

 

Among God’s creation there is only one father and the rest are brothers.

God strictly prohibits people on earth to call anyone Father because there is only one father and he is in heaven. There is a universal duty assigned to man and that is to see others as brothers and that is what they are and nothing more.

 

The oldest occupation of man is to babysit for God by looking after God’s children. Cain refused to keep his brother. Abel thought without children he was his brother’s keeper by leading by example in worship to God and God accepted his worship.

 

History is the history of the multiplication of brothers and guarding each other by mentoring or setting the example. How could you say to love the father whom you have not seen if you do not love your brother who you have seen.

The love for God is translated by the love for the brother. If there is no love for the brother then there is no love for God and that is hypocrisy and nothing more and nothing less.

 

Remember the sovereign reality that you only have brothers and sisters but they all are children of God.

 

You are not able to make a little pinky toe on your foot let alone a complete work of creation that God alone is capable of. Jesus was a kid brother of Seth even though he descended from Seth. There is only one giver of life and that is Jesus God who himself is God. He alone has the power and the authority and therefore the glory forever and ever.

 

Jesus is the example of a “brother’s keeper.” Jesus did not leave behind children and grandchildren but brothers for whom he was sacrificed and the Father accepted his sacrifice. “This is my son whom I love. In him I am well pleased. Listen to him.” The Gospel according to God the Father is that “God is well pleased with the work of Jesus on our behalf.”

 

Jesus is our Abel the true keeper of the brethren. Do yourself a favor, “Love and keep your brother.” Only Cain the seed of the serpent does not and cannot love the brother.

Our example of love for the brother is Jesus who loves us today with the same love he loved us yesterday and will love us in the same way tomorrow and in the days to come until the great day of the Lord.

 

This was one who thirsts to love and be loved.

PS. Have you ever asked yourself of where and how Abel learned to worship God the right way? Abel did not quote anyone. Was he dishonest because he practiced the miracle but did not credit the miracle worker? No. All truth is God’s truth no matter where it comes from. There is nothing new under the Sun. 

 

PS. As much as I love my children, they are my brothers above all and we share equal status at the table of the Lord. We mentor each other.
