Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Yesterday was a very long day.

Dear praying friends,

Yesterday was a very long day. My two boys were busy from the previous day, “no eating after midnight, taking a shower the day before, cleaning my apartment, taking turns taking me to the Hospital, and later the other picking me up from the recovery room.

Once at home Simeon prayed next to my chair and Caleb saw fit for me to take some painkillers while Nathaniel and children guarded my very long nap.

I woke up at seven very hungry and in keeping with the Gutierrez tradition, we went out to eat together to celebrate our doctor’s visit.

At the advice of the doctor, Nathaniel spent the night with me while I was in “Observation.” He brought an air mattress and slept in my office.

Not even the complete anesthesia was as joyful as the love and care of caring friends and family. I could in detail tell you of how brave I was in the operating room, but I do not remember nor do I feel anything praiseworthy to me but the grace of our faithful Lord.

Look at the following verse I found at 3:30 am this morning. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but Jehovah delivered him out of them all.” Psalms 34:19.

So, this letter has become a testimony of God’s deliverance and faithfulness.

Therefore, I refuse to finish this letter with the easy rhetorical question, “Isn’t he great? No! Because you would have the last word.

Instead, I will finish my letter because it is my testimony: HE IS INDEED GREAT AND MERCIFUL AND I ONLY KNOW IT TOO WELL AFTER SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OF BEING THE CONSUMER OF HIS WONDERFUL GRACE AND LOVE.

Thank you, Jesus. And thank you for that which makes Jesus visible to me.

Gerry Gutiérrez.

PS. My grandson Simeon prayed for me while in observation.
