Gerry Gutierrez' Update

More of Kingdom talk and family talk.

Lecture? Sermon? or just thinking out loud?

In communication, make sure to drive at least one point to the end of the nail.

Be more like yourself and less like other men. Jesus chose you to do what you alone can do in his strength.

It only took three nails to crucify Jesus and no more than three.

Nail a few points all the way to the end. Overkilling is not a virtue.

Like overeating causes stomach disturbance but eating just enough is good.

Do not eat until you are full but only until you are satisfied. (Sushi does not cause stomach upset.)

Fatness comes from undigested food that is stored in our “love handles.”

I like preachers that lead by the hand on the road they know so well.

I do not appreciate those who point out the road they know not but from their armchair. Be familiar with the neighborhood.

Lead me by the hand Lord and do not leave me by the roadside. An old lamb, alone and weak by the roadside is an easy prize for the predators of the world, the devil and the flesh.

Once you get used to walking under the protective custody of love, it is not only hard but also impossible to endure loneliness. Some Christmas gifts are hard not to open as much as you would like to open them to know the contents of the gifts. I find joy when I think of the time and effort it took to wrap the gift so exquisitely for me.

When my bed is so well made … I like to sleep on top with only the comforter so as not to disturbed the well-made bed and enjoy two more days of a “well-made bed.”

A venerable old lady with the stature of Prime Minister Golda Meyer was walking along beside the most powerful lady of recent times and was heard to say: “I might walk slower because of my health.” To which this lady of the statue of Queen Esther answered, holding her hand and without losing a heartbeat, “We shall walk at the pace of your choice.”

Walk with me please. I hate to walk alone. Even the Lone Ranger had “Tonto.”

I might have become old and slow but I am moving forward, always forward and homeward to “our Father who art in Heaven.”

Let us not compete but arrive home together.

Gerry Gutiérrez.

PS. Today is sunny and clear in Tacoma, but Mount Rainier is hiding in the horizon.
