Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Letters from Tacoma Washington written between treatments of dialysis.

Dear friends and family,

Just in case these letters are my last letters, I am writing to you with an eschatological urgency to comfort you. I have nothing to offer to you but the same comfort with which I have been comforted.

You eternal Gerry with a "G."

Let us think together the unthinkable.

“One God, one kingdom and one spiritual conflict.”  It is a grave mistake to try to understand the spiritual and invisible world in terms of the physical and temporal world only. The tools given to men under the Sun are obsolete to effectively work beyond the Sun.

What is useful within Space and Time and Matter and Movement are given and confined to the visible world. A good farmer in Nebraska will not necessarily be a good farmer in the New Heaven and New Earth.

Much that has been written about the visible world and history has memorialized it in countless books. But existence has a Spiritual element that our mind shies away from digging deeply into its bosom.

It is not until a man is lining up in his own “Cape Canaveral” ready to be launched to his Eternal Destiny that he stops to think in matters of eternal life.

These visiting thoughts are the same visitors from the cradle to the grave with the exception that this time they are not in our minds for us to take it or leave it but they are there to stay as fellow travelers and faithful companions to the end.

To ignore them will not make them go away or disappear. As for cosmic travelers to another world the landing site is of the most importance, so it is now more important than ever before to think about our future spiritual eternal destiny.

As impressive and vast our visible universe is we must never forget that it is not eternal and it was created out of nothing by the power of the word of God and it is equally able to disappear into the unthinkable nothingness.

From scripture we know that there was a spiritual existence before the creation of the visible world. There was God and there was a kingdom. God and his kingdom are irrefutable facts which are valid for eternity.

It is the word “conflict” that, like a bridge, connects the visible with the invisible or the temporal with the Eternal. Even though very little is revealed in scripture about the eternal invisible kingdom of God, there is enough light to dare to step out of our box and have a clear look at our landing site.

Let our thinking depart from the fact that there is a God and he is the King of his eternal invisible kingdom. We are well informed that this kingdom is full of celestial beings called Angels, Archangels, Cherubim and Seraphim.

Our cosmic Archeology leads us to focus our attention on a beautiful being next to the throne of God, a true carefree perfect Angel. In a state of perfection and beauty on holy ground and immaculate purity with no one above but God and everything below, this Angel is described as one thinking ideas of independence from God.

In the Self-pity that adorns the neck of those second in line to the throne or the second fiddle or second in anything, He was wise and foolish enough not to make his move alone against God and started his grass roots campaign among those who had similar predisposition.

The reader must keep in mind that the all seeing eyes of the omnipotent, omnipresent God knew all along about the plot but let the cup of iniquity run over at their discretion.

When the time of the coup d’état arrived, God, who is not the author of sin and evil, simply granted the desire of the rebellious angels by allowing their separation from him and forever. It was like what Jesus did when he let the demons go after the herd of pigs.

Remember that these celestial beings are eternal beings that cannot die as created things that depend on metabolism and plumbing and so on.

Their punishment was exactly what they wanted and that was separation or independence from God. This is worth repeating because it is the evidence that God is not the author of hell or evil or sin.

Notice that I am not speaking to the intellect of men alone in order to understand the issues of life but to their heart. The intellect is basically “Evidentialist” but childlike faith is “presuppositionalist.” “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23. The issues of life are to be accepted more than to be understood.

Next time you think of Satan going around like a roaring Lion seeking whom to devour, remember him as the author of separation, sin and evil. Remember also that it is not hunger that makes him what he is but the desire to separate you from God. Hell is eternal separation from God. Hell is eternal existence in separation from God away from his love, light and life.

On the other hand, Jesus our precious savior, the Lion of Judah, comes to diligently seek and save that which was lost by becoming one with the redeemed and with God as stated in John 17. Guard your heart and keep it pure if you want to understand the issues of life.

Reach out to eternity and understand who is the author of sin and evil.

Look into Jesus until the invisible things of God are as clear as it was for Jesus.

Remember my beloved, there is only one God and one eternal kingdom and the conflict is not of his making but of those who separate themselves from God.
