Gerry Gutierrez' Update

A cup of freshly brewed coffee for you.

Most prayers are wrong!

Most of our prayers are at best a hit and miss exercise.

That is why we should pray the Lord’s Prayer only with true boldness when Jesus said; “This, the is then how you should pray. Our Father, which is in Heaven …”

If God is anything like a loving, godly and holy grandmother who treasures all the stick figures of her first little grandson by placing them on her refrigerator; then it is easy for me to imagine that God has a humongous refrigerator wall on which your prayers and my prayers have been placed, carefully kept, and Lovingly treasured so that I might know forever of the love of God in Jesus is not by works but by grace.

Please get rid of the harmful notion of “What is politically correct is the only thing acceptable to God.” No, my beloved! In heaven where everything good and bad are kept in carefully guarded books of inventories, your prayers and my prayers will be there. Let me tell you the reason why?

Did you notice that in the United States Congress, The House of Representatives and The House of Senators, have at least four ways of keeping record of every intervention of every legislation every argument presented on the floor of the Congress. They are kept in video recording, sound recording, and written record submitted to the chairman, plus there is also a person like a stenographer typing like mad everything that has been said.

If the words of men in the land of the living are so carefully kept for posterity; how much more do you think it’s going to be an absolute necessity to have a record of our conversation with the king of kings through prayers?

Since my prayers are not always right but are accepted and kept as a testimony and an evidence, then it’s not true perfect prayers but by the love of God in Christ Jesus that I am saved.

It will be my joy throughout eternity to get lost in the libraries of heaven like a little mouse going through the endless pages of records there finding the overwhelming comparisons made by God and how little I hit the target and how massive is the grace and compassion of God that has been in my life.

My God has kept the record so that I may know it’s not by my love for him that I am saved but it is by his love for me. Therefore, I will have endless reason to praise his three times Holy Name for years and millions of years and throughout eternity.

Now if you are wondering why we pray for one another knowing that at best that prayer is a hit and miss exercise?

The right answer should be it’s not for you to know. But I will try to answer.

For God, as in everything else, what counts is not “what” you pray but that "you do pray" for others in an unselfish way showing the life of Jesus within you. The life of Jesus within you should be enough for him to be well pleased and endorse with authority and power as one to whom people should listen.

Intercessory prayer is the only prayer in which you will never be more like Jesus. It is by sharing the love of God with one another as if you do it for yourself to the joy and glory of God, who in Jesus has accomplished the selflessness of Jesus who gave himself for others.

Prayers are mostly wrong but acceptable to God, for it’s by grace that you are saved not by works but through faith and even the faith is a gift of God not by works so no one can boast.

In case you want to make an issue and defend prayer as you know and practice it, then you might want to face the verse that says: “In many words, sin is not absent.”  Or the verse that says, “In the abundance of words is the mouth of the fool.”

After all that has been said I am not opposed to long extended, frequent, eloquent prayer life but just to have the perspective of GRACE in prayer. You will need this motivation to praise God throughout Eternity.
