Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Pulpit, Pen and Proclamation.

My pastor.

My pastor delights himself every Sunday and I am with him when he starts from memory the service with my favorite invocation.

“All people are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field, the grass withers and the flowers fall but the word of God remains forever.”

I hope this bonding time with my pastor happens with everyone because after that I am breathlessly trying to catch up as he takes off with his meaty insights meticulously prepared and eloquently delivered with the intensity that only his eyebrows give away the passion of his heart.

My speed of understanding others is becoming the same as the speed I walk, which is very slow and difficult, and many times painful. I do not mind the speed with which others walk and talk if they do not mind me going the speed I walk and talk. After all I have the same “hole in my face” that is made to speak fast or slow but to lift the name of Jesus.

I like the Tibetan proverb that says: “The secret of living well and longer is, eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.”

But I love the verse of my pastor’s invocation and the following verse: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Matthew 24:35.

As you might have guessed it, the passing of heaven and earth was called to my attention this morning as I consider myself about to pass away.

It is just a matter of time when all the visible world placed in space will pass away to nothingness as it came from nothing will also go back to nothing.

Fear not little flock because the word of God will never pass away.

You might ask in frustration and fear, “So what?”

This is what.

Heaven and earth with all its greatness and glory will pass away BUT the word of God will remain forever.

Alleluia, Amen and Praise God that it is so and in no other way.

THE CREATOR IS GREATER THAN THE CREATION.

The potter is greater than the clay.

The author of creation is greater than the created.

Remember that all things were created by the power of the Word of God.

So, when we say that the Word of God remains forever, what we are saying is that God remains forever. Just as he was before the creation of the visible world and long after the seen world will pass away.

Amen, Amen and Amen.

It is not a Pie in the sky that when we die we pursue an eternal, invisible, infinite complete and perfect kingdom with greater Joy than the human mind can imagine at this time under the sun.

Let the revealed things be proclaimed while there is breath and life but let the secret things of God remain secret a little longer. Let us now together look forward to the coming of the word made flesh at Christmas. Now prepare your hearts to receive him who will never pass away and also celebrate yourself as part of his body who in Jesus with whom you are one in him you will never pass away.

PS. I have no pulpit but I have a Pen and proclamation, because I have an invisible congregation around the world that needs feeding on time.
