Gerry Gutierrez' Update

There is room for an Army of One.

“An Army of One.”

Vision is the name of Faith’s beautiful child.

For some, “Bigger is better.” For others smaller is best. What do you say?

Abraham had one little boy and his name was Isaac...but out of this one little boy Abraham had descendants as the countless stars of the sky and as numerous as the sand of the seashore. Faith makes the difference.

It is not a good idea to ignore that Abraham and Sarah were already an old couple when Isaac was born and that he was old enough to carry the firewood to be sacrificed.

Faith plus obedience gives birth to vision.

When vision is born healthy, mother and child are healthy, they rejoice in the fact that by faith it is possible, “The army of one.” Jehovah God created the human race from one couple named Adam and Eve. It is not in the number of soldiers, horses or chariots that battle is determined but victory is of the Lord.

From among the nations of the world, Israel is a very small country in the Middle East and Bethlehem is smaller and the manger does not even count.

The Inca culture named the capital of the Inca Empire “Cusco” or “Puspu” which means, “Belly bottom of the world.” If I had my way, I would call Jerusalem “Cusco” which truly is the Belly bottom of the world. I would go even farther and say that the umbilical cord that nourished life from heaven rested in Israel.

And to make a complete fool of myself I say that one plus Jesus is the majority.

In other words, the vision of “An Army of One” is either crazy or the predestined vocation of childlike faith. Elijah, John the Baptist and Jesus are mentioned in the same breath and often confused by many as being one and the same person. “Forceful men.”

Without faith there would never be ‟An army of one.” Faith makes possible unity and that is the church of Jesus. “People United in Jesus.” People together at best is a congregation and at worse it is Babel. Babel was a City where men made a name for themselves while a church is an organism made around one man and his name is Jesus.

The Vision of two or three as one is born from a childlike Faith that is lovely and as strong as a mighty army. When one goes “down to Gehenna and up to Heaven he travels fastest who travels alone.” (Someone said this in The Hamilton club of Chicago.)

Lonely at times but never alone is the follower of Jesus who promised to be with his own and always. Jesus calls us to change the world one changed man at a time by being one with them in discipleship.

Vision is like the great Sequoia that are fewer and fewer but no living matter on planet Earth is older than them. Some people dare say “You are a nut” ... thanks for the compliment... “The acorn is an oak tree in a nutshell.”

Luke was a visionary follower of Jesus, he focused his ministry into one man, Paul, and he wrote letters to another man whose name was Theophilus. Paul loved one man the right way and by so doing he loved every man the right way.

Being alive is different from having life. Animals and plants are living beings but have not Life. Life is a person and that is Jesus. A state of being does not define Life but existence only.

“The acorn is an oak tree in a nutshell.” This was an acorn of Jesus on duty in a nutshell. Luke was a visionary “Army of One”.
