A gift
of God in Jesus.
“The
way of salvation.”
Me? Following the way of the thief?
Me? Following the way of the violent?
Me? Following the way of Rahab, the prostitute?
Me? Following the way of David, the murderer?
Me? Following the way of persecutor Saul of Tarsus?
Me? Following the way of Men of Ill repute?
Me? Following women possessed by evil spirits?
Me? Drinking from the same fountain of the lowly?
You gotta be kidding me. I have money and I can pay for my drinks. I am not
used to hand me downs. I am not a beggar. I will not accept something for
nothing. Should I?
Dear friend, if you do not take the water from this fountain, you shall surely
die in your sins as poor as the day you were born. It is freely offered to you
because it is a priceless water that money cannot buy. Why should anyone pay
for priceless water that money cannot buy?
I am so glad that you asked; “It is called Love, Grace, unmerited favor from
God.”
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever
believes in him might not perish but will have everlasting life.”
Yes, my brothers and friends, the language of love is not of this world. Therefore,
you are not able to understand why someone should pay the price for someone
else to have the priceless living water.
Salvation is of the Lord from the beginning to the end and every step along the
way.
Salvation is for sinners only. “Come and buy without money food and drink for
which the bill has been paid in full.” Freely receive that which is freely
given and freely to be dispensed to others.
Let crisis drive you to Jesus and not away from the Savior. Even this
letter is written the night when I thought I would not see the light of day. No
one appreciates health better than those who have been wounded in the flesh.
As the saying goes, “Even counselors are but wounded healers.” Or if you
prefer, here is a Navajo Proverb, “Good judgment comes from experience and
experience comes from bad judgment.”
