Gerry Gutierrez' Update

To those who are feeling lonely.

“Jesus at the Door.”

Fifty years ago, I read the following words of Jesus.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Revelation 3:20.

How come it sounds today just as fresh as it sounded fifty years ago?

It’s called “Cosmic loneliness.” That a visitor from another world means hope and that hope which is lovingly wrapped in faith is the victory which overcomes the world.

The little baby boy Jesus, after thirty years of silence, stood at my door and knocked as if he needed me to open it using just the inside handle of the door.

What is amazing to me today is the thought that my God should stand and knock at my door.

It is nighttime outside.

It is dark outside.

It might be cold outside.

It could be drizzling outside.

It sure is lonely outside.

Jesus is by himself.

Jesus seems to be hungry.

There was no electricity back then.

I know it is Jesus.

I know it is his voice because I heard his calling.

There is no doubt that it is Jesus.

Jesus knows that I know it is him.

From all possible houses Jesus is knocking my house. Why my door?

I cannot let him wait any more. I look around and I do not have much to offer Jesus. Should I ignore him and expect others to open their door to Jesus?

Why should I want him to go elsewhere when it was my house he chose to visit?

Dear Lord, I have less than nothing but if it is me that you are looking for ...here I am and just as I am without one plea ...Oh Lamb of God ...I come.

Naked I came from the womb of my mother... so I come before you for you to do with me as you please.

How blessed am I among the living that my Lord and my God might decide to terminate my “Cosmic Loneliness” by visiting me during the darkest hour of my life by knocking and calling as if he needed me when all alone it is I who need him.

“Mi casa, es su casa Señor.”
