Gerry Gutierrez' Update
Please, read "me" today.
Jesus was rejected by God: “Why have you forsaken me?”
Dearest friends,
If you ever feel rejected and utterly alone...remember Jesus…‟rejected by God, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief from whom men hide their faces and shuck their heads in disdain.”
Fear not him who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Fear him who has the power to kill the body and kill the soul and cast you down to hell.
In the same way, ignore the rejection of men but seek the approval of God who alone has the power to save and give you eternal life in the Fellowship of his company. Jesus said, “I will be with you always.”
The fellowship in oneness with God for the believer is not a promise of a “Pie in the sky when you die.” No. Communion with God is bread from heaven already delivered in Jesus as broken bread and poured out wine on the cross of Calvary.
Dear believer ... if you are a Follower of Jesus... then you are a disciple... if you are a disciple ... then you are a chosen by God from the world...”TO BE WITH JESUS.”
The definition of discipleship is: “Jesus chose twelve to be with them.” Jesus came to our planet to be with us becoming one with us and therefore as one with us rejected by God and men.
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
God had to reject Jesus for becoming one with us sinful men. In the “togetherness of birds of feather who flock together” men have forgotten that togetherness is the enemy of oneness. Jesus did not die for togetherness but unity.
In fact, the focus of Jesus’ priestly prayer was that we might be United as one like Jesus in the Godhead is ONE. “I want them to be with me where I am.” Remember that the Church is people United in Jesus and not togetherness of a congregation only.
With all due respect and consideration, I humbly suggest for you to go out of town at night to the countryside far enough from the artificial lights and turn off the engine of your car. Then after a silent prayer step out of your car and walk away ten steps in any direction away from “the blanket of security of your car.” There you will hear your steps in a way that should give you goosebumps and will make you appreciate the crickets that you so often ignored in familiarity.
Then lift up your eyes toward the cloudless sky and try to look as far as you can with your own eyes. When you find that you cannot see far enough, take a second look at the sky with the eyes of reason. Next when you cannot look any farther then take a third look at the sky with the eyes of speculation and place yourself and our planet earth in what should be the edge of the Universe. Imagine yourself out there on planet Earth alone with no one beside you, THEN AND ONLY THEN will you start feeling truly small and you will have an idea of the greatness of the Universe.
If you have been brave enough to come this far in space, let me suggest you think of those who existed 200 years ago who are all dead and gone. Then think of those Seven Billion people plus many cattle that 200 years from now will also be dead and gone.
You might be a homeowner and landlord, but in the universe of God… “You are but a tenant.” “A migrant bird.” “A single grain of corn in God’s brown dirt.” Generations come and generations go... but the earth remains the same. On the way home watch for the unforgiving signs of the road and when you make it home turn off the lights. “Rehash” your experience and think about baby boy Jesus who was not only sent into a dark, lonely, cold, violent and dangerous world but he was abandoned and rejected by God and men.
Under the cover of your favorite blanket, you will find no understanding apart from the fear of the Lord that by faith leads to the Love and grace of God.
In the light of that discovery, “The things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of his wonderful love.”
Like the Unknown Soldier a follower of Jesus might have died alone and rejected in complete abandonment but he will have died KNOWN BY GOD” therefore never alone.
I know life in heaven to be secure, happy and carefree, but my taste of heaven on earth in Jesus makes me long for his presence and fellowship even if there were no mansions of glory in heaven.
I am glad to know that with the eyes of faith I am able to see above the heaven of the heavens the white throne of God almighty where distance is non-existent in the ever-presence of his majesty.
Gerry Gutierrez.
PS. If you still feel lonely, then it is time to ask yourself, “Who
moved?” Return to God in repentance my beloved because he is nearer than you
think. Photo is of the Last Presidential National Prayer Breakfast I attended in Washington DC.
