Some thoughts to ponder before Christmas.

Glory to God!

Stop for a moment opening your gift boxes and think about that glorious thing of Christmas. What God did on Christmas even the Angels could not hold it anymore but burst out in words of praise to the glory of God.

Let us think for a moment of angels as outside observers of redemption through the incarnation for which Christmas was the inauguration day.

The gloriousness of Christmas that shook heaven and earth is the humility of God. Angels were so amazed that God could go to such an extent to show his love for a chosen race that they would come to their head to compete for the love of God.

Far from causing jealousy, the angels who love God and everything he loves saw in Christmas the revelation of the heart of God and found it praiseworthy not only on earth and heaven but also in the “Highest corners of heaven.”

Christmas on the East coast is celebrated a few hours before Christmas is celebrated on the West Coast. In the same way the angels celebrated Christmas in Heaven before shepherds celebrated on earth.

Now you can resume opening your boxes but from this day forward remember that the opening of boxes in heaven was the birth of Jesus on earth.

You might ask why is this so glorious? It is glorious because Christmas is the revelation by which we can have a sight of the end from the beginning and also because Revelation is a consumated fact even in an embryonic estate of a promise.

The cosmic warfare will come to know an era of peace brought by the birth of Jesus. This wonderful peace will not rest on all but only on those in whom his favor rests. This is the same as to say” In whom he is well pleased. 

What the Father on the Mountain of Transfiguration said of Jesus could be said of us in Jesus today - “in them I am well pleased.”

If you have been the hunter and fisher and collector of wealth up to this day in your life, it is time that you go and seek the Lord’s favor. Christmas is nothing but the favor of God resting over the shoulder of men in the name of Jesus.

Sing to the glory of God like angels.

Seek to overwhelm God with your gifts like the wise man from the East.

Follow in humility like the shepherds on the hill and announce Jesus to the world.

Above all worship the Glorious God throughout eternity starting this Christmas.
