Let us Exit the Pandemic together by the power of Prayer.

“Hyperbole, Gospel Truth or a Lie.”

 

“Pray without ceasing.” Says the Bible.

What do we do with this verse?

 

When we find something difficult, our tendency is to “Rationalize” or “Explain away” and tackle the matter by reducing it to its minimum expression to keep the guilt of ignorance at the manageable level.

 

Wait! Do not be too quick to pick up the first stone against me because we are all equally guilty of this sin. The evidence is the way we tackle our understanding of the “Eternal and infinite.” We all live under “Relative knowledge” if it were not for Jesus and apart from faith.

 

You might find it hard to believe what I am about to say, but half of my life I was full of questions and unsatisfactory answers but that is no longer my case. Today I have no need to question or answer as before. That is not because I have come to understand it all, but by surrendering and taking Jesus at his word in a childlike manner I have come to say “I am having so much fun as never before.”

 

Let me illustrate what I mean by all this. If I was twelve like Jesus was in the temple and someone asked me what the Lord is doing in the world today with the Pandemic? I would say that, “God in jealousy is destroying all the idols from our lives so we might learn to depend on him alone with all of our hearts, with all of our soul, with all of our mind and with all our strength. God wants us to understand faith and prayer as one and the same thing under the Will and Word of God to the point of just saying “Yes” to his will and not ours. I also sense a spirit of revival. It is like the midnight bus that is passing through so that if we do not come on board, it will be a long time for the next bus to come around.

 

And what is amazing is that the Lord's Prayer is our “Yes” to God and only “Yes” is a Prayer worth God’s ears. Unfortunately, Prayer has become an intermittent blinking light when it was meant to be like the light of the stars as constant and as brilliant with never ending light.

 

Let me try to tackle this matter from another angle. Since COVID-19 has to do with Air and breathing I will use Oxygen to make my case.

Let us consider Prayer and Oxygen.

There is an amount of oxygen the brain needs to function normally and healthily.

Just because you put an oxygen mask over your face it does not mean that you will take greater doses of oxygen to store it for a rainy day. The intake rate of oxygen to the brain has been set in the factory of the workshop of the creator.

 

In the same way the spiritual health of the soul is determined by the prayer life of the individual so that breathing will keep the person in its normal and healthy functions.

 

Therefore, it should be acceptable to compare the wearing of an oxygen mask and attending a prayer vigil as good things but not necessarily for storing prayer power for some rainy day.

 

This is because the maker of our body is also the maker of our soul and he has set the daily rate of prayer life needed for a healthy spiritual existence.

 

My point is that there is a false sense of security in pumping oxygen as well as Prayer to the body and the soul expecting some sort of fast fix or shortcut or even saving for rainy days.

 

In other words, what I am advocating is for normal breathing on the basis of healthy habits such as just being active and breathing fresh air. In the same way the prayer vigil will not contribute to storing body fat for the winters of life. The bear might stuff himself with loads of extra Salmon to accumulate body fat to hibernate during the winter, but humans are not bears, nor are they created to hibernate but to follow Jesus.

 

As much as I love my goldfish, if I add a gallon of water to the fish tank it will not benefit him more than the amount of water already in the tank.

In conclusion, it is advisable to breathe and pray without ceasing as set by the creator of the body and soul. To make things a little clearer let me say that a perfectly helpful tank of oxygen or a prayer vigil can be equally harmful when it comes to replacing the normal rate of function set by the creator.

 

It is wise to be on guard about practices of “Antinatura.” (Against natural process.)

In real life the “Monday night quarterbacking'' might or might not work just as much as “Weekend warriors” might or might not win the battle.

 

But as surely as the Sun is good for life and fresh air is good for the lungs, so is Prayer and breathing normally good for you. Oxygen masks and prayer vigils are no substitute for the steady and continuous praying and breathing as God meant it when he first created human beings.

 

As boring as breathing and prayer seem to be when you consciously think about it, this does not mean that it is not vital. 

 

If Prayer is equivalent to breathing, it must be as spontaneous as thinking, which is something over which you no longer have jurisdiction and that is for your own good. Prayer should not be “a date with Jesus” but a constant and uninterrupted fellowship with the lover of your soul.

 

 

What do we do with this verse? “Pray without ceasing.” It is just a hyperbole, a Gospel Truth or a lie?

Of few things I am as sure in life as this to be the Gospel Truth. “Choose ye this day.” Let us exit the Pandemic by the power of Faithful prayer. Death to the idols. Death to the Prophets of Baal. Be a forceful man for Jesus.
