Gerry Gutierrez' Update
Beware of the destructive power of fear.
Beware of the destructive power of Fear. “The will of God.”
The will of God is that which is bound to prevail even above the will of Jesus. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42. The greatest lesson to learn in life is to say, “Yes” to the Will of God the Father.
If we long to go to Heaven it is because we know that the all-convenient will of God is done in Heaven. Jesus taught us by word and deed not only to pray “Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” but Jesus set the example by submitted himself to the Will of the Father. He drank the bitter cup in complete trust and obedience to the perfect Will of God that is bound to prevail because God is the one and only Sovereign of the universe.
As we approach the Holy Week we should remember correctly that it was not the Jews or the Romans that forced Jesus to drink the bitter cup. It was the Will of God the Father to strike furiously his one and only beloved Son who for our sake became “Sin itself.” The wrath of God was discharged over Jesus, “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.”
The view of Calvary and the cross of Jesus will cause tears in our eyes that can blur our vision to the point of distraction so that we will end up seeing only the obvious of the flesh and blood of the crucified and those who crucify Jesus.
But the counsel of scripture revealed in this text must lead us to see clearly and embraced the Sovereign God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, for executing his own Son. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in him might not perish but have everlasting life.”
Behold the price of our salvation and then thank and praise the Lord that “Salvation is of the Lord from beginning to end and every step along the way.”
Fear is capable of killing when faith is absent. Yesterday I was told that out of every 30,000 dead people 10,000 died of COVID-19 and 20,000 die of fear. Beware to live in the fear of the Lord so that there will be no fear left for anything else. Jesus trusted in the will of his Father that brought Jesus back to life by resurrection.
As I approach the Sunset of my life our Lord has comforted me through this verse and I in turn am trying to comfort you with the same comfort with which I have been comforted.
This was your amateur comforter on duty.
