Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Evolution. Metamorphosis or Conversion. A Witness of Jesus.

“Jesus made the difference.”

I love the Gospel.

I live for the Gospel.

I live from the Gospel.

I will die for the Gospel.

“The Gospel is not an ideal nor a concept, not even just good news; the Gospel is a person and that is Jesus the Lord.”

There is a difference between an ideal and a person. Once I was a fool who was willing to die for a Marxist revolutionary ideal in my desire to be an “Amateur Providence.” But since Jesus opened my eyes to his beauty, I am only willing to die for Jesus and no other.

Just as there is a difference between praying and believing in prayer, there is also a difference between confessing with the mouth that Jesus is savior and believing in your heart that Jesus is Lord.

However, it is not a matter of “either or” but it is “both and” as a coin has two sides. There are things that are different but are meant to go together always that if separated do not make any sense. Just like the precious coin of Grace; it would be impossible to understand as is the expression of God who is both love and just.

Beware of lopsided theologies, our Gospel is not a Gospel of confession of sin with the mouth but our Gospel is a Gospel of repentance in the heart for the forgiveness of sin.

Just like Evangelism and discipleship are different but one and the same thing, so is the Sovereignty of God and man’s responsibility are seemingly different but are two faces of the same coin.

It is to discipleship that we have been called in the Great Commission, but discipleship would be an inconceivable task without the conversion of a sinner into a Saint. Conversion first by the power of God who is the greatest Evangelist of all ages who is evangelizing the world through his word.

Conversion is as much a miracle as the conversion of water into wine. Conversion as miracle is the work of God alone. To fill with the pure waters of the Gospel the empty heart of people is the work of servants. And to serve converted water into wine is also the work of servants just as discipleship is the work of those of us who have been called to serve. But evangelism or conversion is the work of God alone.

Heaven meets earth when an evangelist of multitudes has the vision to disciple two or three out of many like Jesus closely discipled Peter James and John.

Earth meets heaven when the disciple maker dares to settle down for the daring work of going to the multitudes in the name of Jesus to serve the converted wine of God to as many as he can. Doing this in a way to keep the laughter of the redeemer without calling attention to self then enjoying the inner joy that makes him glow in a dark world.

There is nothing like knowing the origin of the wine and being involved in the “Small obedience” of serving like a “waiter” of Jesus walking in small groups as Peter James and John.

This was the glowworm of Jesus on duty.

“I thank him that enabled me, even Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to his service; though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief; and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”
