“This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in Heaven”

 

I am the son of Modesty Julia Santillana Restaure and Gerardo Gutierrez Villanueva, but God is my Father in Heaven. My earthly parents could not make or create a single nail on my toes, let alone the rest of my body.

God created Adam out of the dust of the ground and he was just as much dust on the ground as we are today.

When God blew his breath in the nostrils of Adam, he became a living being with the capacity to know God as “his Father in Heaven” and enjoy sweet fellowship with him. He learned to speak by repeating after Jesus in the Garden at the cool of the day.

It was not good for man to be alone so God made Eve out of the rib of man.

Though Eve came out of Adam, it was God, her Father in Heaven, not Adam, who created her. Furthermore, Scripture commands us not to call anyone “Father” but God. God is no longer in the business of creating men and women out of the dust of the earth but uses men and women to bring children into the world to populate and fill the Earth. Therefore, God and God alone is “Our Father in Heaven.”

The “Lord’s Prayer” is built on the premise that we are talking to God as a child talks to his parents. It is God the Son teaching God’s children how to talk to God the Father with the help of God the Holy Spirit. It is all about God who wants us to have communion with his Son of whose body we are members, and this Prayer is Jesus’ prayer as well as “OUR” prayer. The head of the body cannot pray differently than the rest of the body. In other words, Jesus is telling us, repeat after me, “Our Father in Heaven.” If anyone knows how to talk to God and what to say to God, that is Jesus his Son. The Lord’s Prayer is a comprehensive Prayer.
