Gerry Gutierrez' Update
Short articles of the, "Yes Jesus" Book on prayer. # 81
Is it really for more information (Teaching) about prayer that we are after? Or is it a desire to understand prayer itself that we are after? Could it be possible to infer that the real question to Jesus from his disciples is, “What do you talk to God about? How do you approach God?” Jesus answers by saying, “This, then, is HOW you should pray.” Meaning, this is HOW I talk to my Father. The “then” is HOW you should pray. Jesus who knows HOW to talk to God is saying to us: “Repeat after me.” I dare say, “Let us pray.” For the prayer of the rest of the body could not be different from the prayer of the head of the body. Furthermore, the hand and the feet cannot lead the head in prayer. Prayer is from God, to God, led by God for his glory, and according to his perfect, holy, and good will. “This, then, is how you should pray: “’Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
This is the teaching elder on duty in matters of Prayer.
