Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Nobel virus, Second Coming and Frequent flyers.

Jesus, Simeon and Me.

Sleepless in Georgia, (at 3.00 am)

By the love and grace of our sweet Lord Jesus I am not afraid of death.

Yet, I must confess not to like Hospitals or nursing homes and dying alone does not sound appealing either.  It’s been over ten days that early in the morning I cannot sleep due to a mild shortness of breath. But during the day I am tired and when I take naps they are very deep and long.

My greatest fear is that some of my concerns about my life might escape the guard of my control and discourage those who along with me have lived to affirm the ever-rewarding path of godliness. Please pray for me, “His Soldier.”

Meanwhile, I am convinced that no one but God in his sovereignty has each one of us in the world today right where he wants us using the Corona Virus.

I also believe that God wants us not only to believe in prayer but come to the point of not just longing for an “Awakening” but gulping like fish out of water gasping for, “Your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as in heaven.”

Through the Lord’s Prayer we know it is the will and desire of the Godhead to return and establish his kingdom on earth as in heaven.

What I am not convinced of is that those for whom Jesus will return are not equally willing as I am for the Second Coming of the Lord.

I wonder what must have been the Prayer of those in the times of drought during Elijah and even Joseph in Egypt?

If their Prayers were for relief, RELIEF THEY GOT and nothing else.

Since many shy away from this kind of talk I decided to talk my grandchildren who are my homegrown prayer partners.

I asked “Simeon (5),” “How would you like to pray with me for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus in our life time? After all you are Simeon who was named after Simeon who prayed to see the kingdom of God before he died. He held baby Jesus in his hands. Would you like to go with Jesus and me to Heaven soon?

“Yes grandpa,” Simeon answered enthusiastically.

Then I asked the same question to Gaba and added that if she would be willing to go to heaven now or to wait until she had her own family and children and grandchildren? Gaba did not lost a heartbeat and answer me with equal enthusiasm, “I want to wait until I have my own family grandpa.”

Simeon and Gaba represent us human beings.

If we were given sure guarantee to go to heaven later, we will postpone as much as we can our time of departure and enjoy earth as squeezing a lemon to the last drop.

( Just in case?)

Just in case what?

Just in case there might not be heaven?

Our predisposition toward the future shapes our behavior and attitude in the present.

As for me and Simeon, we are praying to God that if he does not come in our life time, we want God to send his Uber service driven by the frequent flyer Elijah who has traveled the most between heaven and earth. Elijah was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire, then he returned to earth in John the Baptist and later in the Mountain of Transfiguration along with Moses.

I am dreaming for my Birthday to go to Tacoma in November and once again sit by the seashore and fish with Simeon next to me. It would be neat to see Jesus together coming in the clouds for us who are in the front seat at his appearance.

God in Covid-19 has provided for us all “a quiet time”, like he provided for himself 40 days and 40 nights in the desert after his baptism, right before his ministry on earth.

I strongly believe that God wants to talk to us through his word as never before. God also wants to hear our agreement in prayer by just saying “YES to Jesus.” The “YES” to God is concealed in the Lord’s Prayer.

As appealing as the Reformed movements are, as exciting as another awakening would be, I rather the Second Coming of Jesus anytime.

Come back Lord Jesus!

Come back Soon Lord!

Maranatha!!!
