Gerry Gutierrez' Update
Shortness of breath.
My dear friends and family,
I have shortness of breath, “The Lord gives and the Lord takes it away.”
This morning [7/16/20] around 3:45 am, I woke up with some shortness of breath. My left arm is very numb since my stroke but today it was worse.
Being a widower with diabetes, getting older by the day, alone because of the pandemic without family and friends, it has become a very revealing experience for me to find out where my confidence rests. I am decaying physically but I am also being renewed every day in the inner man.
My gentle and silent ceiling fan is fanning fresh air on me as I write this letter of my thoughts to you at the present time. God is not trying to kill me, but he wants me to write my thoughts for others who are too sick or scared to think calmly about Jesus.
More than ever before the human race is forced to think about Life and Living and draw life-changing conclusions.
What is it that we have that is more precious than anything else in our body which is made out of dirt? The only proper answer is: “THE BREATH OF GOD HE BLEW INTO OUR NOSTRILS WHEN WE FIRST WERE CREATED AS LIVING BEINGS.”
The wealth of the body is our breath and that breath is from God who gave it. The sovereign Lord gives and the Lord can take it away when he pleases and it should be well with our soul. After all he is the potter and we are the clay with no capacity to speak to the potter about ourselves.
God does not owe us any explanation because he is Sovereign. He knows the end from the beginning and every aspect in detailed in matters of his creation. The doctrine of predestination is more inclusive and broader than we think.
Nothing makes you more helpless than the incapacity to breathe to the point of saying, “I can’t breathe.” You do not need a knee of a cruel police on your neck to not be able to breathe. Covid-19 is the cop whose knee is in the neck of all those who have the Coronavirus.
My Ruthie died in my arms one Sunday morning at 7:15 as the Sun was brightly rising and the birds were singing in her window on the 26 of February in the year of our Lord 2012. To me it seems that in her last breath Ruthie saw Jesus the beauty of her Lord that “Literally took her breath away.” I stood in awe as I handed over the hand of Ruthie to her new and True handsome husband. It is thanks to our Father in Heaven that in Jesus I have the same hope that when I stop breathing on earth my next full breath will be in Heaven with Jesus, Ruthie and my Keila.
Are you having a shortness of breath? Is breathing becoming a heavy burden?
Fear not and listen to the word of the Lord, “Come to me all of you who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” You do not need to go out of your Quarantine to find Jesus. He is closer to you now than ever before in your hour of need. I know it personally even now. I also have been there when my children received the breath of God at birth and I have been when he took away his breath from my wife.
Breathe deeply my friend and thank the Lord in your prayers for every breath. This was your favorite breathing nurse on duty.
Gerry Gutierrez.
PS. I am with two pillows behind my back and breathing better. Thank you.
