Gerry Gutierrez' Update
From a one string banjo player: A word about Prayer "again."
We are not going anywhere. “We better pray.”
What good is social distancing, quarantine and a ton of soap and sanitizer if we only pay attention to the exterior of things and thoroughly ignore the spiritual part of our nature.
Unbeknownst to most of us who have joined by the Law of the Land to the “Quite Time;” God has sovereignly summoned the human race to “come and let us reason together” in our hearts and minds and seek to agree and prepare for the day of His return.
A brutal “Silent treatment” is welcoming the intentions of God.
You might say, “Speak for yourself bud, we are praying as never before.” That might be the case, but could it be possible that our prayers might be missing the understanding and faith that Prayer requires? Without it, as our Lord Jesus said, we are only “Babbling?”
What harm would it be if we come afresh before the throne of Grace in the name of Jesus; and there in a childlike manner we give ourselves room for repentance and take Jesus at his word. Then we accept the conditions of Jesus for prayer and we Pray the Lord’s Prayer as if for the first time?
“The works of God is to believe in him whom he has sent.” God the Father will only be honored if we believe in Jesus as his one and only Son. No one should come to the Father in Prayer but rest in the name of Jesus alone.
In vain men pray endless, eloquent and frequent prayers if prayer is not done “In Jesus.” The gates of heaven will never be open as a result of vociferous rioters pushing furiously against the gates, but they will be opened by the key of the kingdom that is Jesus who said, “I am the Door.”
Repeatedly, I have pleaded with our President to talk more about Jesus and less about God. Bless his heart; there has never been more pray related activities in the present administration than any other in the past. But even if the White House could become a place of worship where every Sunday Prayer would be broadcasted throughout the land in the name of “God”; we will not go anywhere. Because where Jesus is not preeminent in his house of Prayer, neither Jesus nor God is present and that makes out of every such a congregation a “Godless” gathering.
The Church stands or falls in the name of Jesus. “He who is not gathering with Jesus it is scattering without him.” Only with Jesus anyone can gather together. Stop wondering why we are not going anywhere.
It is not a matter of multitudes in togetherness that is going to impress God, but the small obedience of two or three gathering together in agree according to the mind of God in Jesus and his will and name. That will cause God to turn his face toward us and give us the peace grounded in grace and love.
Jesus adds the verb in the imperative form as he says, “ASK anything and it shall be done for you.” “Nothing is impossible for him who believes.” Nothing? Yes, nothing is impossible for him who believes.
Besides, “Without Faith it is impossible to please God.” “Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” Faith! Faith! Faith! Sophisticated Faith? No! Childlike Faith! Faith as a gift of God.
What about if by Faith we cast one more time our fishing net on the lake of Prayer and recognize God as our Father in Heaven? Then we immediately honor him by believing Jesus as his Son and once and for all ask him for his kingdom to come in our lifetime and mean it.
By prayer we can accelerate the second coming of Jesus. Jesus asked us to ask God for his kingdom to come and his will be done as in heaven. I do not want to close my eyes before I see his coming.
Never mind for your descendants, because they will all make it, for the promise is for you and your household. Might your will be done and not ours dear Lord Jesus. “Yes Jesus.”
