Short articles of the "Yes Jesus" Book on prayer. #2
Jesus said: “This, then is how you should pray” “Our Father who art in Heaven”
Jesus taught His disciples to not pray like individuals. “Not My Father in Heaven.” But as groups “Our Father in Heaven”
Jesus requires His disciples to come together in small groups of two, three or more in agreement according to His Word and Will and ask whatever they want and it will be given to them.
Certainly, our Lord knows our needs long before we are aware of them ourselves. Just as a mother does not wait until their children are starving to start cooking. Why should we then need to ask him as if He did not know?
God's aim in prayer is not just to give us what we ask for, but to promote communion of a small band of brothers on the basis of their need. He requires them to renounce their wills and adopt God's will in a simple childlike manner and dependence. The result will be more faith, more trust and more love for God and one-another.
Prayer answered produces communion with one another and God who is in the midst of their prayer time listening and gladly answering their every request. So whatever one receives is a consequence of their small obedience to God’s condition on prayer.
This then, is how you should pray: “Our Father who art in Heaven.”
