Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Fatigued already?

Dear friends,

According to the Honorable Paul Zitlau, one of the godliest (R) Ruling Elders of the PCA that exclusively handles my website, evidentley I have written 450 letters.

No wonder that some of you are suffering some “Email Fatigue” and no longer send me your feedbacks that I wonder if you are still receiving my letters. But for the sake of those who have asked me to keep writing my letters I will start this new year with a dozen or so important letters that were not sent due to the fear of not being read.

Let me share a few secrets with those who are not suffering fatigue from my letters.

The secret of preaching and prayer is not in the performance but in the struggle to repeat the fresh unsayable experience of having heard God and seen the old vision of revelation.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta worked hard and worked hard to death in her life of service to the dying and the poor, but she never neglected her long hours with the Lord alone.

When she was asked, “What do you do for those three to four hours daily after you woke up?”

She would answer, “I just pray.”

When she was asked, “What do you say to God for four hours?”

She would answer, “I say nothing, I just listen to God.”

What does God say to you for four hours? Then she would answer, “He says nothing.”

When she was press to say, “What goes on in your time with God?”

She said, “God speaks with saying too deep for words.”

Much of prayer reminds me of a mystery to be found in the Holy of Holies behind the torn curtain that is discovered firsts and foremost for personal consumption and only a portion of it is for public usage.

What God says to me it cannot be the same things that God says to others because we have different needs and different levels of growth and different wavelengths of communication with God. The intimacy God has with his wife the church is not the same everywhere though eventually it will be one and the same forever.

Let me share an illustration, “Guinea Pigs are very quiet little animals. When my grandmother brought a bundle of fresh Alfa-Alfa food for her fifty Guinea Pigs they seem to be so happy as they released a soft suppressed laughter. It is  similar to a little guttural sound I make when I learn that a prayer for which I was involved has been answered.

Nothing encourages a man of prayer more than intercessory prayer.

Not so much the answer of prayer itself but the silent joy of not being able to say to others, “I told you so,” yet the unmistakable “wink” of God is there that make out of a believer more than a conqueror.

They say that the moon is very silent, prayer also will bring a strange silence and loneliness into your life. It will make you “radioactive” to others that have not discovered the nature of Faith and Prayer as one and the same thing under the will and word of God.

Give me a preacher who like Isaiah the Prophet has seen God but cannot even articulate his vision of God to others and I will show you a man with a message from God. Show me an eloquent man who delights your ears with sweet nothings and I will show you a man who has a message of his own.

As for me, “Just give me Jesus.” Jesus is the bread of life and he is my daily bread that without his life giving nourishment I am unable to ask for forgiveness or forgive others and let alone keep away from temptation.

Preachers and prayer warriors, “Just give me Jesus.”

This was the writer of letters on duty.
