Gerry Gutierrez' Update
What do you think about Insurance?
Dear Friends,
For some insurance companies there are only two kinds of people: “Those who have had an accident and those who will have an accident.”
They use scare tactics of sensationalism and conspiracy plots which are very effective among those who are afraid of the uncertainties in the future.
Cleverly they make their sales pitch saying: “It is better to have insurance and not to need it, than to need insurance and not have it.”
What is worse is that the government has made insurance mandatory. What about Faith and prayer? They make no room to live by faith and prayer. Faith and prayer are bad for business…it creates dependence on God and nothing is more dangerous than a “House of Prayer.”
So, they sell… Health insurance. House Insurance. Car insurance. Boat Insurance. Flood insurance. Fire insurance. Renters insurance. Travelers insurance. Voice Insurance. Prescription insurance. Motorcycle Insurance. Death Insurance. Credit card insurance. Pet insurance and etc., etc., etc.
The only problem is that according to “Murphy’s Law” fate will happen to all people just the same. What is a follower of Jesus to do without betraying Jesus by making provisions for the flesh and putting their trust in the visible world? Moses said: “Their rock is not like our Rock.” Jesus is the Rock of ages cleft for us, let us hide ourselves in him.
How? By faith - walking as if on water keeping our eyes on him and away from life's storms.
Among believers there are several kinds. Those who dare to step out of the boat by faith and go after Jesus like walking on water. There are those who started walking on water and lost faith and are in need of a rescue operation to keep from drowning. There are those who are dry in the comfort of the boat who will never know the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat. There are also those who are on dry ground whose life consists of running with turkeys and do not have any idea of flying with eagles.
As an insurance salesman for Jesus I also have my sales pitch to those who are in the togetherness of the fellowship of believers. (Take fellowship as fellows in the same ship.)
Jesus has called the "Faith Full" to walk on water. That is to live supernatural lives in the most natural way. Being the greatest of all is a converted and changed life that makes the actor of one’s own life a spectator of his own drama.
At first you will make a fool of yourself like Peter, but later, much later you will walk on water as natural as walking on dry ground.
If by any chance I got your attention, I have more news for you. Those who observe your life carefully will see Jesus in you as the hope of glory... but they will not believe their own eyes. That will hurt you and keep you humble as you will thereby be conformed to the Image of Jesus.
A bittersweet experience will be yours when you learn what it means “to share in the fellowship of his sufferings.” You will be despised, rejected, a man of sorrows and well acquainted with grief.”
Jesus' own brothers did not believe in Him. They said, “He is out of his mind.” As scripture says, “In the last days, a man’s enemies will be the members of his own house.”
Remember that he who has not walked on water cannot understand the one who has walk on water. Keep walking on water anyway as if the only consumer of such grace is you.
We are Landlords in Heaven and the deed of our mansion is signed by Jesus.
Our Future is securely “INSURED” because it is built on past and proven faithfulness of God’s words to our fathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesus.
When I was a boy someone pushed me to the swimming pool and I found out that I could swim.
Keep tiptoeing at the seashore and do not be surprised if I come from behind and help you to find out that you can also swim. On second thought, consider yourself pushed already and surprise me with a note of your daring experience in the return email.
This was a relentless badger of Jesus on duty.
Gerry Gutierrez.
P.S. This letter will sound strange to those who do not know spiritual
struggle.
