“Oil.”

 

Text - Please read Matthew 25:1-13.

 

How good is a lamp without “oil”?

How good is a life without prayer?

Why should I care about an empty jar?

 

The value of our body made of mud is precious only because God blew his breath into our nostrils. Our life is the prayer of God unto himself and it is for his honor and glory alone. If you are still breathing it is in order to pray without ceasing.

 

Hold your breath and see what happens. In short order your countenance will turn pale. Your head without oxygen will not think straight. You will become weak and unable to walk straight and eventually faint and fall to “expire” by breathing your last and “gulp” like a fish out of water only to weep and gnash your teeth.

 

While in the world we are subject to getting tired, sleepy and drowsy. Sleep if you must, but make sure that the jar of your body has plenty of “oil”.

 

A wise mother far away just asked me to pray for her beloved children. What I love about her is that she does not trust in the “respirators” which the world offers but her trust is in the “Oil of prayer.” What a joy to join her in prayer in the certainty that “our oil” together will shine brighter by faith in the name of Jesus.

 

A foolish woman nearby ignores me totally knowing that I am a merchant of “Oil” who is ready to dispense plenty of “oil” for free but she rather trusts in the “respirators” the world offers.

 

Pride will make you hold your breath following the counsel of your own will and it will become like the knees of a merciless cop on your neck taking your breath away. At that time there will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth as your last thought will go back all the way to your mama who perhaps was the first and the last who taught you about “the oil of prayer.”

 

“Oil” is priceless in the last hour and no amount of money can buy you “oil” at that time. The demand for “oil” will be such that even your peers will not be able to help you without risking their own “perdition.” The time is coming where “oil” like oxygen tanks will be in great demand but there will not be enough for others but only self.

 

We can encourage and lovingly warn each other now, but later it will be too late.

When everything is said and done, what we leave behind in life is our influence.

Will your influence be a burning building full of looters of angry people gnashing their teeth in violence? Will it be like the death of Cannon, a five year old little boy, shot to death in the head as he was riding his bicycle on a sidewalk that has caused many to weep great tears of sadness?

 

Think about what you will leave behind and save “oil” for your “rainy day” which is soon to arrive and is arriving daily for many around the world.

 

Pray! Save “Oil!”

Sleep over your jar of “oil.”

Jesus is coming and he is coming soon.
