Gerry Gutierrez' Update

In memory of Ruthie's Birthday.

Dear Family and friends,

Fear not to change because we live in an age of Grace. Within the framework of the umbrella words of the reformers that, “Salvation is of the Lord,” there is the implicit understanding that the church of Jesus is to be always changing and being reformed.

If you are not open to change that means that you are stuck and if you are stuck you are not going forward. There should not be fear of change due to the fact that the secularization of the mind is as natural a process as the effects of the heat of the summer over the dolls of a wax museum.

Let the guardians of the Confession of Faith remember that “to reform” is only to bring back “form” where “deform” has occurred. To reform, is by no means to take away or to add anything to the original form, that is returning to original shape, and that is good.

The divines who drafted the Confession of Faith never meant to replace the Bible with the Confession of Faith. In fact, the Reformed Faith instead of being like a stagnated set of truths “is a way of thinking.” It is like a pipeline that allows water freely to run in the tube as in a path of less resistance.

Let us go back to the idea of the drop of water melting from the Andes Mountains of Peru that traveled all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. This little drop returns to its place or origin by evaporation and becomes a cloud that carried by the west wind to rain again in the mountain to dynamically and indefatigably go about its routine. Now snow, now liquid and vapor again to travel by Air, Land and Sea in an endless cycle like as the dispenser of the grace of life to men, fish, birds and plants by the will of God.

Fear not changes as long as your trust rests in the Sovereignty of God and the mind of Jesus rules your life.

What about changing all the way to Jesus’ time and way of thinking where the master encourages the change of the adult all the way to childlikeness?

What about trying to go all the way to the feet of Jesus?

What about going back to meditation with the intention to obey?

What about believing in Prayer more than in praying itself.

What about settling for the small obediences?

What about focusing in you Peter, James and John?

What about seeking and walking in agreement with two or three?

What about loving your wife or husband the right way?

What about mentoring two or three to replace you on earth?

What about truly love your children and parents the right way?

To faithfulness in small things God has called everyone.

Should you find yourself in a hospital without option but to look upwards, remember to thank the Lord as my beloved “undercover boss” is praising God from the heart in genuine joy after a car accident today.

This was your reminder of small obediences on duty.

Gerry Gutierrez.

PS. Today my Ruthie would have been 73 years old.
