God is not a potted plant. Trust and obey!!!

Eloquent silence.

Once upon a time, a sailor sold his pet parrot to a well-mannered schoolteacher.

The mother-in-law of the teacher came to visit the man and his wife and the parrot spoke his mind. “Hey lady!” The lady answered, what?

The Parrot said, “You are ugly!”

To that the offended lady said to her son-in-law in great tears of anger, “You must have taught your parrot to call me names, I am so offended,” The concerned Son-in-law said, “No mother, that is not the case, I wouldn’t do that to you and to prove it I am going to whip this stupid parrot to never do that again.” Thus the man whip the parrot half to death and threw him into the cage.

After a long visit and dinner the lady was about to leave the house when the parrot could not help himself and try to speak his mind again and he said, “Hey lady!!” What? The Lady answered.

“You know what!” The parrot answered.

Sometimes it is better to remain silent and let others figure out the obvious. Every one knew what was in the mind of the parrot.

As irreverent as this illustration might be, it can be applied to the silence of God to some prayers. The silence of God is just as eloquent as his truths that have already been spoken by the words Moses and the prophets. So we do not pray as if God has not already answer that prayer before hand. Through revelation we are already able to figure out on our own the known will of God.

God said, “Hey Jonah, Go to Nineveh.”

Jonah did not go to Nineveh but to Tarshish.

After 3 days of a very stinky experience Jonah did go to Nineveh.

If Jehovah is Lord, he is not there as a potted plant but as God to be obeyed for one single reason and that is because he is sovereign. Therefore he alone is the blessed controller of all things, nothing escapes his blessed control. From the tiniest sand at the seashore and the remotest Galaxy all are equally under his control.

I have a friend who has accepted the challenge to read Scripture and we are on our third year talking about God and the claims of Jesus.

I believe my friend has heard already the voice of God as Jonah did.

But my friend is on the way to Tarshish in a trip without arrival date.

I ask your prayers that my friend discovers soon that God is not a potted plant but a Sovereign God that controls whatsoever comes to pass and that to trust and obey is the only way to relate to God.

If you hear...

Hey Jonah!

Hey Lady!

Hey friend!

Hey Gerry!

Hey ...put you name!!

Then answer, “What”?

YOU KNOW WHAT!!!

This was the parrot of Jesus on duty.
