Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Go ahead, "Make my day" read this letter.

“Clint Eastwood, on my mind.”

Eastwood’s Father’s work ethics, “You either progress or decay.”

Inspired by Clint Eastwood hard working work ethics, and challenged by my brother’s example who in pain after seven hours of surgery recently woke up and wanted to do exercise. At the loving urging of my “undercover boss” I have made my way to do exercise in the community pool where I just finished my first 200 laps walking in the water during the last three weeks.

I had to make it happen! No body is going to do it for me!

Just as I cannot believe for others neither can I repent for others, in the same way, others cannot do rehab and exercise for me.

Many people say, “Health is wealth.” Reluctantly I have come to agree with whoever said that.

While on that subject I want to share what I found this morning in the cool of the day in the garden where I hang out with the Father.

In Luke 16:11 our Lord speaks of “True riches” that seem to be different from monetary wealth. The difference is the same between “Intelligence and wisdom.” One is better than the other. Like wisdom being better than intelligence. Anybody can be intelligent, but not everybody is wise.

Wisdom is the capacity to live life with a three-fold goal, “First for the Glory of God, second for the benefit of others and third for ones own blessing.”

The beauty of “True riches” is that it is within reach.

It is not like wages which is the result of “Doing” hard work but of just “Being faithful” in “small obedience’s.” God entrusts “true riches” by grace to those who are faithful in small things.

In fact God take great pleasure in revealing things hidden from the wise and understanding in their own eyes and revealing them to little children.

One-way you can find out the “health and wealth” and your true riches in God is by your insights into the scripture. Such is called understanding. Consider Psalm 103:7 “God revealed his ways to Moses but his deeds to the people of Israel”. (Ways versus deeds.)

In the words of Jesus, “ This wicked generation is after deeds and miracles, but none will be given but the sign of the prophet Jonah.”

The people of God saw the deeds of God in Egypt and during the exodus but they never stop grumbling.

Deed and miracles are nothing but the “Finger of God” but “Revelation is the whole of God.” (Jesus).

Even though God’s ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts, God chooses to reveal his ways to those like Moses but his deeds to the people of Israel.

Prefer the ways of God to the deeds of God, that is true wealth and true riches and true health indeed.

The secret of Moses as a leader of God’s people was the knowledge of God’s reliable ways by revelation.

This was food for thought for this Sunday from your brother and teacher of “Little obedience.”
