Gerry Gutierrez' Update
"Ignore the
traitors, but stop to smell the flowers."
“Cain, Jesus and Judas.” We all are either
our brother’s keepers or the proud envious murderer traitor and owner of thirty
silver coins as the price of our own soul and conscience sold in a self-betting
auction. It might seem to
be good business to set a price for an act of betrayal of an innocent man for
an easy money for doing nothing and plot and set up a holy kiss as the sign of
the fake love that many so freely use even in our time to “Silence Jesus in us as
the hope of glory.” The boomerang
effect of men’s behavior is clearly stated even by my “Hill billy”
neighbors of Tennessee when they say like Salomon, “What goes around
comes around.” The Russians call it “Karma,” the Muslims
call it “Fate,” Las Vegas calls it “chance” or today’s
“philosophers of the poor” call it “destiny.” We the followers
of Jesus call it “The Sovereignty of God,” who is the blessed controller
of all things. Nothing whatsoever comes to pass that escapes his control. It should not be
hard to swallow the pill of the “Sovereignty of God” when we have already
swallowed like Anaconda snakes “Heresies” bigger that our own body. To speak about
Cain, Jesus and Judas in the same breath are to be considered as normal as “A,
B, C,” or as incompatible as water & oil. The mystery of
redemption is involved in beauty in the midst of the ugliness
of the swamp where the incredible beauty of a flower majestically white and
pure is floating as the priceless possession of the swamp. Once upon a time,
a scientist and I found ourselves at the bottom of a foul smelling sewage
treatment plant where a farmer near by had just harvested the most beautiful
white and long turnips that was being sprayed with clean water to be taken to
the market and without a doubt to be served in a salad the next day in a
Chinese restaurant. I candidly asked
my friend who knew better, “How in the world can we eat that turnip from such a
horrible foul place?” Without loosing a
heart beat my scientist friend spoke in the most
natural way the unforgettable words I ever hear from a non religious man, “The
Lord designed it that way.” I must be so
gullible, because to me those words were not designed or aimed at me but they
sure were just like the word of Pankiko, a Christian
boy, who first
told me about Jesus answering my question of “Why he was not a Marxist
revolutionary?” He replied by saying the only answer in his heart and
mind, “Because I have Jesus in my heart.” In the same way the
words of my scientist friend, “The Lord designed the turnip to be born,
developed and grow to become a white and transparent vegetable like the white
flower in the swamp” made a lasting impact on me.
From among the
children of Eve, there were born a man like Cain a creature of the swamp who by
admission “Was not his brothers keeper” but the envious
murdered of his one and only brother. From the
daughters of Eve like Mary, Jesus was born as, “the one and only true
brother’s keeper.” Yes, Jesus was the pride of Israel. Yes, Jesus the
glorious flower of the Jews. Yes, Jesus the undefiled “White Turnip of God.” Lastly Judas as horrible
of a man as he was, he was once a boy in his mother’s lap feeding on her breast
but by God’s Sovereign designed he was born to fulfill God’s will. If you are of
Jesus you must know that you also are in a fallen world in a swamp, in the
midst of foul smelling environment and live between the envious murderer and
trusted traitors plotting in their heart to silence you and somehow seeking to
benefit by your death. Just remember
that he who kills you or betrays you in actuality is committing suicide and
forfeiting his own soul. Fear not those
who seek your life, for the promises of God are ever present realities in
that, “He who comes against you, will fall before you.” No
weapon forged against you will prosper, because the Lord is with you and not
with them. Our fears are
unfounded, because Jesus
says, “Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in
me.”
PS. “I no longer
listen to what people say, I just watch what they do. Behavior never lies.”
