Gerry Gutierrez' Update

Sunday Celebration of Life.

“Life is from God.”

For many years a couple wanted to have a child and it never happened.
While another couple in a “one night stand” finds the girl getting pregnant.

What is one suppose to do? ……Nothing!

Unless one believes to be co-equal with God and sovereign co-author of life over the newly conceived baby or no child at all, there is nothing one can do.

Among humans, the only principle that needs to be applied is needs and wants.

The wants of the couple that has conceived a child could be different from the needs of the baby to come into the world. A child in a womb should have the same rights as any of us had when we were conceived without consultation.

I believe in “Pro-choice” with all my heart. In fact all the choices you want and can have prior to conception. Once conception happens, it is no longer the choice of two that rules but the new and independent person with its unalienable rights under God, the one and only sovereign Lord and author of life.

For Elizabeth at “OLDAGE” the pregnancy with John was not only a high risk pregnancy but it was in fact life threatening.

But the words of Elizabeth are not “pregnant with selfish fears and worries.” On the contrary Elizabeth said: “The Lord has done this for me.” “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”

Let me be ironic and a little whimsical, if I might, to get across the point.
Elizabeth did not credit Zachariah by giving him an extra hug and a kiss saying “Good job Zach” or “Thanks a lot” or “Just don’t forget to help me with the diapers and taking turns to make the baby burp.”

Elizabeth, a godly woman, descendant of Aaron, KNEW without a doubt that what was in her womb was “Life from God” as a favor and gift from God.

There is no doubt in my mind that what visited the mind of Elizabeth and any other godly believer in similar circumstance was to wonder, “How many times she could have been pregnant but the Lord “Protected” her until due time when things come to pass in its proper time and with the proper person.

I will also exercise my prerogative as writer and put in a word on behalf of children of all ages: “They are true NATHANIELS” to parents, which means “Gifts of God.”

I will be most grateful to all of you parents if from this day forward you look at your children as ones FROM GOD and love them a little bit more and look at them as the favor of God to you. Look at them adoringly in the eyes and say nothing but let your eyes speak to them the wordless language of love. “Life is from God.”

PS. Celebrate Life this Sunday at church and during your Sunday dinner by just loving and thanking God for his gift and favor to you. "My gifts from God."
