‟Understanding Judas”

"Thought provoking thoughts"

I am a salesman of Predestination as the flashlight of God’s Sovereignty in a very dark, violent, cold, lonely, and incomprehensible Universe.

The difference between Predestination and Fatalism is the same difference between Jesus and Mohamed, sovereignty and fate.

Just as a wicked was created by God to be use as a rod in the back of the fool, so was evil permitted by God so man can understand the love of God in redemption that throughout eternity gratitude will be the ever motivating force to constantly spur us in adoration that eternity will not be long enough to sing his praises.

As serious as treason is, it should not take all our attention from being careful of others sins that are just as deadly as betrayal. I hate Satan, the serpent and traitors. They have inflicted me much pain.

Sin is like a seed that carries within its heart life and death.

It is said that some grains of wheat were found in King Tot’s tomb in Egypt and when those seeds were planted they promptly sprung up to life as any other wheat after thousands of years on inactivity.

The nature of the wheat was in its inside unaltered by time.
In the same way Sin is in the inner nature of every man everywhere.

A foolish act or a stroke of geniuses does not define a man.
A man is defined over a long journey of which the first step and any other step in between is just “steps”. The length of a journey and the patterns of daily behavior is a clear indicator of what a man is like.

Common sense tends to counsel that if we can just avoid to Sin like Judas, we should not be so bad or even safe.

As much as I hate to Lawyer for Judas, I will try to take his case temporarily for the sake of understanding Sin and Sinners, for the greater good of the body and therefore for the common good.

In the LIGHT OF PREDESTINATION Judas had a predestined destiny to fulfill the will of God where betrayal was only one more of his many other predispositions to sin.

There is something in predestination that causes some men to raise their eyebrows towards God in temporary insanity. Without malice but equally danger a man is unknowingly prompt to resist the Sovereignty of God, his Lordship and his power and authority. This way of thinking is more prevalent among the Benjamin Spock’s permissive society.

Their view of God is the same as that of their parents who are tolerant and “permissive”. They would rather have a God who shares credit and glory with man and recognizes the contribution of men onto their salvation.

Oh, what would a man not give to be like God even for just one moment? Among pagans and Armenians there is plenty of room in the inn of their heart for glory and honor base in sacrifice and good works.

Judge for yourself my friends of how God who knows the end from the beginning and planed every step of the way in love, secures by predestination the destiny of his elect.

“God is love.” Predestination secures that his love will prevail immutably, even if that will cost the life of his one and only Son. Many depart ways one from the other by taken sides with “poor Judas” as if he were a victim of God and his will and forget in the process the passion and death by crucifixion of Jesus our Lord.

Let us not for a moment separate Predestination from Sovereignty and remember that the potter is always sovereign over the clay.
Let us also admit that with or without Judas the arrest of Jesus would definitely have had to happen.  The hate of the enemies of Jesus would have prevailed because of their number, power and authority at their disposal.

Jesus was not a radicalized religious terrorist operating in a clandestine manner but publicly teaching at broad daylight in one of the smallest countries of the World where you can run but not hide.
Predestination rules over the far Galaxies as well as over a grain of sand a tiny virus and everyone in between regardless of sizes.

Your honors the “Grand Jury of my peers,” bear with me as I present the case of Judas that was already found as guilty as they come.

Let me mention a legal precedent that is as old as History itself.
Cain and Abel were brothers but one killed the other by envy.
Esau and Jacob were twin brothers from the same womb.
To Jacob God loved but to Esau God hated. In the course of time Esau had a descendant named Herod and Jacob had a descendant named Jesus. Herod hated Jesus and tries to kill him for envy.

These enmities were not born out of the blue sky my friends. These conflicts were part of a cosmic conflict between Satan and God and the Serpent and Eve and the descendants of the serpent and the descendants of the women.

It is in this toxic environment that Judas was born and grew knowing nothing better but rejection, violence, selfishness, envy, pride, hate and to make things worse he grew up in resentment of the occupying power of the Roman Imperialists.

As if that was not enough he grew up in the midst of the most hypocritical religious environment with no chance to know the truth or have desire for it. All he saw around was figs with much leafs but no fruit and he lived under clouds without rain and toothless lions.

Eleven other witnesses can testify that Judas expressly admitted to care for the poor and was entrusted with the moneybag. The prosecution can use the same eleven witnesses to prove that Judas was also a thief and stole money from the common wealth.
In honor to the truth I grant that Judas indeed was a greedy thief.

But this is not a trial about theft by grand treason. Let me continue in presenting the case in question your honors of the “Grand Jury”.

The defendant could not afford a lawyer and I was appointed temporarily and for the sake of argument to speak on this case at the request of the law. The only money that poor Judas had was thirty silver coins that in remorse he took back to those from whom he took.
When Judas was brought to court this morning he had nothing with him but a thirty feet long rope.

You will also notice members of the Grand Jury that Judas was a very lonely man without family or friends. It also appears that Judas was an affectionate man that the last night in the Garden he kissed our Lord in the face that we all find strangely remarkable.

Let it be remembered that the Sovereign Lord Jesus also chose Judas.

No further arguments your honors of “The Grand Jury.” Then a voice is heard in the Court:
“HOW DOES THE DEFENT PLEA? GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY?”
Guilty! Guilty you honor! Guilty without excuse!

The same voice said:
“Since no one is pressing charges against the defendant, he is free to go. The court orders to return the personal effects to the defendant which in this case is consistent in a thirty feet long rope.”

Thank you members of the “Grand Jury.” My closing words are for the sake of posterity. The act of treason of Judas was part of his eternal destiny predestined by God before the foundation of the world.

In my view you honors the great crime of Judas has its roots in a corrupt way of thinking where by he preferred to believe the Liars, Leakers and Liberals of his time in spite of the unusual closeness and intimacy with the Lord Jesus himself.

Judas could not serve two masters at the same time. The love of money is the root of all evils. Judas tried to love God at the same time but at the end he preferred money to Jesus.

Even that would have been forgiven if he should have repented.
Judas never repented but only remorse was found in his heart.
Remorse is worldly sorrow that leads unto death by suicide, while repentance leads to godly sorrow that leads to forgiveness and life.
The unforgivable sin of Judas was a self-deceptive religiosity that instead of going to Jesus for grace and forgiveness Judas preferred to go the dark religion of the religious people who could care less for his soul. Judas went to plea guilty before men instead of God.

Matthew 27:1 to 10.

Judas Hangs Himself

1Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed. 2So they bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate the governor.

3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. 4“I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”

“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”

5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. 8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.” a

To returned the money was an evidence of Judas’ inner religious conviction based on good work. “Judas returned the money as a sign of sacrifice for his sins.” Judas pleaded guilty for all generations: “I have sinned. ”He said I have betrayed an innocent blood”.

Any confession to man will have an answer from man: “What is that to us?” they say, “That’s is your responsibility.”

Other traitors betray traitors. Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. Religious people take matters in their own hands.

If Jesus had some money that was the price money paid for his life was consistent of the thirty silver coins. God also predestined the destiny of that money in scripture to be used to buy a plot of land as burial place for foreigners. Jesus was a foreigner among us and was buried in someone else’s tomb. Matt 27: 9 to 10.

9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.” a

We have a saying in my country “El que mal anda mal acaba.”
“He who walks wrong ends up wrong”.
Let us not blame God or predestination or the single act of foolishness of Judas but learn the root problem is the choice of man who prefers darkness instead of light because his deeds where evil. Let us be careful not to commit treason against anyone who trust and loves us. Let us not be off guard from every other sin that will equally kills us by thousand of small cuts.

Life is in the blood. Do not betray innocent blood by inflicting others and yourself with small wounds. God has created vessels of clay, wood, silver and gold, some for noble and others of no noble usage.

Might you be found as a vessels of Gold made for noble usage for the Lord to help himself from you.

I rest my case your Honors of the Grand Jury of our generation.

PS. If you find difficult to accept the role of evil in God’s economy, just think of Jesus as the great diamond of God being place on the black background of a velvet cloth, where the darker the background, the Shinier of the diamond under the great light of the wisdom of God.
