A summon to pray
for our own good.
Let us better pray, or else.
A natural man does not want to depend on anyone
but self.
Another natural man does not want anyone to depend on him and he
wants to be left alone.
A carnal man sees the convenience of the prayer
of others on his behalf “just in case that prayer may really work.”
Another carnal man sees the convenience of investing time in
praying for others “just in case prayer may really work and share in the
credit.” Though one asks for prayers and the other one prays, in reality
neither “Believe in prayer.”
What makes
prayer so powerful is not the eloquence, the frequency, the length, the hour or
the place of prayer but Faith in Prayer.
To believe in
prayer is more important than praying.
What good is it if we pray eloquent, long, and frequently early in the Morning
and throughout the day if we do not believe in prayer?
But if we believe in prayer, no matter how feeble our prayer is, God will hear
it loud and clear and will certainty answer any and everything we have asked
without doubt.
God has been always in the business of hitting a straight blow with a crooked
stick. God is still glorified in our weakness. Faith makes the
difference, because without faith we cannot please God.
Faith is not
necessarily the result of brain power, intellect or scholarship. Faith is a
gift to be received in childlikeness by taking Jesus at his word and moving
ahead in his name.
In fact too much
information and knowledge is a hindrance in the visible world that overwhelms us
and obstructs our view of the invisible.
The spiritual man is one who takes Jesus at his word in a childlike
manner and agrees with God and his will as stated in scripture and gets into
alignment with God and does not settle for anything less but oneness with God.
The spiritual man is a man who judges all things and he is not
judge by anyone. The spiritual man is one above reproach. The
spiritual man has all things a prayer away. The spiritual man has
no need on men because his sufficiency is in God. The taunting task of
the spiritual man is to make the invisible God he loves and knows
visible to others as Jesus made his Father visible to the believer.
“How can a
spiritual man say I love God to whom he has not seen if he does not love his
brother to whom he has seen?” Spiritual men do not depend on others
and they do not let others depend on them.
In order to make
God visible, Spiritual people must lean on one another in interdependence,
like the three poles of a tent leaning one in the other pass the center of
gravity to the point of no return so if anyone of them move out of place
they all fall to the ground in uselessness.
Without two or
three in agreement the covenant tent is non existent and its occupants are
exposed to the rain in the togetherness of a congregation and not in the unity
in Jesus, which is the definition of the church of God. “People united in
Christ Jesus.”
Interdependence
is the fellowship of the saints which is our inheritance purchased by Jesus
while we are on earth.
We are to pray for one another as for our self because that is the truth “we
are not our own” be belong to each other as my legs and my arms belong to each
other and Jesus is the head of the one body.
To pray or not to
pray is not an option for the believer.
To fellowship or not to fellowship is not an option either.
If I pray for you it is for my own good and if you pray for me it is for your own
good. “Option” is a mythical concept.
I do pray for you more than most of your friends but I pray because I am under
command and I also love Jesus in you and that makes me crazy about you.
Pray for me now and let as together rejoice in the Lord’s answer because one
thing is sure and that is “We will certainly have what we ask because nothing
is impossible for them who believe”.
I do not need to be sick, I do not want to be sick, and I do not deserve to be
sick neither have I time to be sick, all I have is time and not enough, but if
it is God’s will for me to be sick, so be it, so you can pray for me and we can
see together how Faith, Prayer, love and the grace of God works in the real
life. The minimum requirement from the Lord for corporate prayer is the
agreement of two or three. Otherwise you can not even say the Lord's prayer
which is designed to bring us together into interdependence when we are forced
to say after Jesus “OUR” Father who are in heaven.
In the last two
weeks I have seen five different doctors, at the gentle pressure of family and
friends. I was taken by a friend to the ER for five hours and had much lab
work, X rays, EKG new medications and change of diet, change of routine to
relief stress and hypertension as my blood pressure goes up and down from as
high as 240 over 140 to as low as 86 over 51. My blood sugar goes from 314
to 82 and all in between.
My doctor is
somewhere around the world on a vacation and I have not seen any member of my
family for over a month.
I love to work hard and delight in the care of angels in disguise.
I also have formidable enemies who fight me in advantage (they think) but
little do they know that he who is with me is greater than he who is in the
world.
Pray for my
eyesight and a long list of deteriorating parts of my body.
I need to accept the fact that I am an old “Ford model T” and I should not
treat my body as if it was a Ferrari.
I miss my family
and Peru terribly and I wish to be near them.
But above all I want the perfect will of God regardless of the consequences.
The frequency of
my letters to you is an attempt to persuade you of the deep, deep love of Jesus
and also of my love for you.
When the Lord put in your heart something worth sharing from you time in the
garden at the cool of the day, do not hesitate to write it and send it to me. I
am always starving from Jesus in you the hope of glory. Yes, “Give me Jesus. Give me Jesus. Just
give me Jesus.”
Gerry Gutierrez.
PS. Dr. Lloyd Kim from Mission to the World has asked everyone to
join him in prayer for the month of November.
I encourage you with all my heart to join MTW in Faithful prayer
and let us see together the hand of the Lord or better yet the return of the
Lord in our generation as we focus on, “Your kingdom come and your will
be done in earth as it is done in heaven.”
I for one want by
faith to already thank the Lord ahead of time for my complete healing and
restoration of my old body.
“We must believe before we pray.”
“Let us take Jesus at his word in a childlike manner”
Let as together agree with God and his will as stated in scripture and see how
God will open the gates of heaven to pour his blessings and/or honor our prayer
with his second coming as we cry together, “Maranatha”.
“The fig has blossom, we belong to the generation in whose time our Lord might
return.” It is about time to stand and sing again, “Hosanna, blessed is
the one who comes in the name of the Lord“
Your fellow follower of Jesus in interdependence.

PS 2. “Or else”,
what? Might the Spirit help you to figure it out.
