This
must be the believer’s "Pursuit of Happiness".
“Wonder no more.”
If you are one of those who are wondering about the letter writing and perhaps
are tempted to ask, “Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?”
Wonder no more; my answer is a categorical, “NO.”
I have nothing
better to do with my time that would work for the glory of God and the good of
the elect and my own blessing but to write the cream of my thinking, as I would
have liked from others to tell me with open heart their fresh testimony about
Jesus.
Let me use as the
heart of our meditation 1 John 1:4
“We write this to make our joy complete.”
I am also a witness of Jesus in what I have been able to grasped by faith of
the invisible God through Jesus and his word.
“A witness is not completely joyful unless he is testifying.”
By God’s grace
and sovereignty I have been given by God thousands of friends around the world
and I have no way to keep in touch with them but through my letters full of
misspelled words without proper grammar but full of love and eschatological
urgency.
While local
pastors get immovable with their local congregation and local congregations get
immovable with their pastor, (bless their hearts) I am some sort of misfit who
does not get stuck with neither.
I am a true pauper
in body life as an organization, but rich in intimacy with God and fellowship
with the invisible body of Jesus as an organism. I further confess to be
incomplete like John if I am not writing to testify Jesus in me the hope of
glory.
Much of my testimony in the past was to go around the world and tell people of
what I was and how I come to know the Lord Jesus and how I was transformed
from a radical revolutionary man into a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus. It is
my conviction that my real testimony is what I am now by God’s grace and
how the mind of Jesus governs my spirit and I will do my utmost in writing
until I can write no more.
I love the life of Abraham who set his heart in pilgrimage and traveled with
the God of the universe as his personal friend. I love the lonely voice of
forceful man like John the Baptist and Elijah.
Above all I love the solitary life of Jesus who testified about God by making
disciples and mentoring few but fellowship even with fewer but had one friend
in John his beloved disciple with whom he hung out to the end in Patmos
confiding in him the things yet to come.
Fellowship is reflection of relationship where mutual belief are one and the
same thing as faith and prayer are welded as one by the will of God as revealed
in scripture. (F=PW2)
If real communion and oneness does not happen between two people it is likely
not to happen with three or twelve and let alone with more.
I refuse to settle for togetherness in Christ, which is most of what
congregations are in our generation. I am willing to die in pursue of
people united in Jesus which is the true definition the Church. Togetherness
and unity are as far apart as religion is from relationship. Relationship
is based on birth but religion is based in behavior.
My joy is not
complete nor will ever be complete with skin-deep relationships at the shade of
precepts, information, instructions, rudiments and endless teachings but in the
self-consuming life of disciple making to which every believer is called by
TEACHING TO OBEY EVERYTHING JESUS TAUGHT US WHILE ON EARTH.
Let no one have
another Bible study unless you open the word with the intention to obey. Let
every one persuade one another to obey that which they have already attained. Why
would we eat more if we were not digesting that which we have already in our
stomachs?
I write to make my joy complete by provoking a predisposition in my friends to
be unhappy with things as they are and thrive for more from Jesus until the
longing to go home where our blessed Jesus is waiting possesses them.
Would you please pray with me today, “Your kingdom come and your will be done
on earth as it is done in heaven.”
All I am asking from you today is to just say in agreement “AMEN” and
mean it with all your heart, soul, strength and mind.
“Your” Gerry Gutierrez. I belong to you as
my hands belong to me.
PS. Wonder no more, I do not have anything better to do with my time. All
I have is time but not enough of it. I will write for my own sake because
I love the Joy of being complete on earth as it is going to be in heaven.
Another verse for the road, “The fellowship of the saints is our inheritance in
this earth.” It is on earth that you need to spend your inheritance because
later your will have plenty in heaven. The Fellowship of the saints on heaven
is an acquired taste on earth. Jesus died for more than togetherness and skin
deep relationships.
Jesus prayed to
the Father.
“ I have given them the glory that you gave
me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in
them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then
the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you
have loved me.”
The Joys of
"Grandpa Hood" "These are my prayer partners." They
find it easy to agree with me and say Amen to my prayers.
