Gerry Gutierrez' Update

A special Letter from the bottom of my heart as

“My utmost for his Highest”.

To Pray or not to Pray?, that is the question.

Matthew 6: 5-15

How Not to Pray?

“Do not pray like the hypocrites!”

How do hypocrites pray?

They love to pray! What is wrong with loving to Pray?

Nothing, in fact you should love to Pray! What is wrong is the motivation of praying. The hypocrites love to be seen by men as praying men or men of prayer.

If by God’s grace, the provisions of God comes, the hypocrites want to be associated with God and go on record as those whose prayers preceded the provision of God.

My son in law calls those men, “Glory Grabbers”.

What is wrong in this kind of activity is that men seeking in prayer and praying of which they know little or nothing but performance in street corners. Their aim is to be seen by men more than to be seen by God in the secret chamber of the godly that is the closet of their hearts.

Hypocrites use prayer to gain what belongs to God: Glory, Honor, Praise, Power, Authority, and Control.

There is power in prayer but not in “praying” as the hypocrites pray. Prayer is of God and praying is of men. Prayer is more important than praying and this is not a false dichotomy either. Prayer is as holy as God and praying like a hypocrite is as unholy as babbling. Babbling leads to self-deception that leads one to think that they will be heard because of their many words.

Jesus says “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” The follow up question is, “If God already knows of my needs, why do I have to pray?”

That is a key question. We do not pray to make God know our needs but to fellowship with God on the basis of our needs.

We return to the Garden at the cool of the day to practice dependence on God and unity with the Godhead.

Unless we accept that independence from God is the greatest sin of men and angels, we will never understand prayer. Prayer is absolute dependence of God. If we do not truly Pray, then we will be left with “babbling” and “many words”, but never with “Prayer”.

Prayer is agreement with God who already knows my needs and not God agreeing with my needs and me. Prayer changes things. Praying never changes things.  Prayer is reality as praying is performance.

Prayer is to take Jesus at His word by faith and agree with God in

Prayer and settling for God’s will as revealed in Scripture. F=Pw2Prayer equals Faith under the Will andWord of God. This is the equation that rules the Spiritual Universe.

The result of Faith full prayer is alignment with God and the Ultimate result is Oneness and Unity with God. Oneness with God was lost in the Garden when man preferred bobbling and many words as he involved in praying with the deceiver.

Once in a childlike manner we come to believe and agree with God in Prayer according to God’s will reveal in Scripture, then we are in alignment with God that brings us to oneness with God, then, and only then, “Power and Authority” are no issues to pursue. Because in Oneness with God a Holy man becomes the arms of God and the mouth of God as members of His one body whose head is Jesus.

True praying is a tributary to prayer as the Apurimac River in the mountains of Peru is a tributary of the mighty Amazon River.

Jesus said, “This is how you should pray”. If you want or love to pray, then pray the Lord’s Prayer as repeating every word after Jesus and becoming one with the Father led by the head of the body, Jesus. The Lord’s Prayer and our Prayers after Jesus is one and the same thing. Only God the Son knows how to talk to God the Father because he is God and from God and at the same time our head of which we all are members. The head leads the body as Jesus leads us. Your fellow agonizer in understanding Prayer and praying.
