Gerry Gutierrez' Update
A former Communist
urges all to Remember God as creator and redeemer. “Remember who made and re-made you.” Once upon a
time on the First day of the week, very early in the morning, the women went
seeking for Jesus at the Tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While
they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like
lightning stood beside them. In their fright
the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them,
“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how
He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: “The Son of man must be
delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be
raised again.” Then they Remembered His words. This is how the
“New creation started in the Resurrection of Jesus.” Notice that this
announcement is made to women who are seeking to serve Jesus. “Remember!” God the Father sent two of his trusted
Missionary Angels with a message to Remember. “Remember!” “Do not look for the living among the
dead.” What are we to Remember? “The clear answer to this question is to remember the
words of Jesus.” “NOT TOO FAST!” Why are we to Remember the Words of Jesus? The women must have
though. Jesus is not where they saw him last. He is not there. We can see that
He is not there. We are not blind. We saw him die and we are also eye-witnesses
of how a soldier made sure he was dead by spearing his chest deep into His
heart and bleeding to death and overkilled. This was the
mental transactions of the women at the Tomb. “Yes! We Remember,
now that you mentioned, Jesus said in Galilee” that “The Son of Man must be delivered
into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised
again.” Yes! We sure Remember that,
but He is not here! Somehow Remembering is
not enough because He is not here. But Remembering
the word of Jesus leads to believing Jesus and that is saving
Faith. Taking Jesus at His word in a childlike manner is the definition of
Faith. Why should I
believe Jesus’ words about himself as his own witness testifying on His own
behalf? Is that not called a conflict of interest? The reason to
believe in Jesus apart from the two angels and the Holy Spirit is that they all
point to the greatest testimony of the only witness of the universe that
counts. Who is that? God the father! It is He who spoke in the beginning, “Let
us make man into our own image.” And it is he in our new beginning that starts
again in the Resurrection the one sending a message for us toRemember the
words of Jesus. What is there to remember apart
of what Jesus said and we already remember now? To Remember without obedience is not to Remember. Beautifully
enough, it is God the Father who is pleading with us to Remember and
to believe in Jesus when He came down from Heaven in the Mountain of
Transfiguration reducing himself to a witness of His Son Jesus when He said: “This is my Son, whom I love, in Him I am
well pleased” Listen to Him! Remember Him! It is because God
the Father who witnessed and endorsed Jesus that we must “Remember” the
words of Jesus. Let us Remember to
listen to Jesus! That was the message of the angels at the Resurrection Day who
in representation of God the Father were pointing out our minds and hearts to
Jesus. To listen to
Jesus is to take Him at His word, which is the definition of saving Faith. “The
works of God is to believe in him whom he has sent”. Our failure to Remember to
listen Jesus, as God, is the root of all frights, fears, unrest and ultimate
condemnation. If you Remembered to listen to Jesus; then you
have come to the point to believe in the invisible, Spiritual, Eternal God, the
Holy Spirit and the angels of Heaven. If you trust the
Father and the Son with the help of the Holy Spirit, there will be no need for
the eyes to see evidences or for the finger to touch the wound of the nails in
His hands or to place your hand on his pierced side. Remember that it is God the Father who willed to
create men into His own image. It was Him who so loved the world that He sent
His one and only Son to seek and save, that which was lost. It is He who wants
us to Remember to listen to Jesus. It is He who is re-conforming
us into His own Image!. Remember the last words of Jesus in the great
commission when he said, “Teach them to obey everything I commanded you”. That
is teaching them to Remember me. Gerry Gutierrez Georgia, January
