Kay’s Sunday Baptism.
To lose in order to gain is good.
To gain in order to lose is foolish.
“What would a man profit if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul ?”
The unique teaching of Jesus is to lose life in order to gain not only life but eternal life.
How could this be?
The Resurrection of Jesus from the dead and with him the resurrection of those
who have put their trust in Jesus is the only answer that makes sense as the
only truth there is for the hope of the believer.
Apart from the glorious resurrection of Jesus, we are still in our sins and
even if we gain the whole world our souls are still lost and hopeless.
The word Resurrection is a lifeless term reduced to a lovely wishful concept if
it is not a fact and a driving force of every act of your life.
To have the things of God in mind is to accept willfully the necessary
seemingly evils of life not in holy resignation but exiting anticipation in the
knowledge that God does all things well.
So we can say to ourselves “AND WE KNOW” that in all things God works for the
good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purposes. For those God for knew he also predestined to be
conformed to the likeness of his son that he made him the firstborn among them
many brothers and those he predestined he also called and those he called he
also justified, those he justify he also glorified. What then shall we say in
response to all this?
If God is for us who can be against us? He who did not spare his
own Son but gave him up for us all - how will he not also along with him
graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charges against those whom
God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus who died-more than that, he was who was
raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us,
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
As it is written;
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are condemned as sheep to be a
slaughter”.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons
neither the present nor the future, nor any powers neither height nor depth nor
anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of god
that is in Jesus our Lord. Yes. Yes, Yes. Amen.
We lose life on earth for the sake of Jesus in order to gain not only life but life Eternal through the resurrection of Jesus our Lord.
In the firm mighty hand of God in Jesus.
