Gerry Gutierrez' Update
A witness is called to testify about Jesus
faithfulness in order that others may love him. “Jesus’ Eyewitness.” Luke 22:35. GA. From first hand experience, I can
testify along with David. “I was young and now I am old yet I have never seen the
righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread. Psalm 37:25 As a witness of Jesus I have been
called and hired by his grace and love to stand under oath before you and
declare. “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not be in want” I have lived long enough to see and
testify as a witness of Jesus that the Lord is true to his word to those who
take him at his word, by being a Good Shepherd providing for me and all my needs
and wants. I am in position to say: “I lack nothing” For me the promises of Jesus are
not “a pie in the sky when I die”. Jesus is the ultimate reality there is. The
chief end of my life is not to love God and enjoy him forever some day when I
die. No! My chief end in life is to love him now and enjoy him now when I need
the most of his love and joy on Earth. Five years ago I stopped daring to
ask questions to God. I am fully satisfied in Jesus about my need to know
about God. My intimacy with God is such that I find my wisdom too poor to put
it into words. What I know in my mind and heart is do justice describing my
love affair with the Trinity. The problem is not my lack of
intelligence or that of my fellow believers that keep us in ignorance and
powerlessness. The problem is the refusal to take Jesus at his word in a child
like manner and feed at his feet as a sheep feeds on green pastures beside still
waters. We must take “The Lord Jesus as our shepherd” and not as “The Lord is
my preacher.” Like a child as well as a sheep what I need most is a
shepherd not an instructor. I need fresh water and green pasture not more information. A sheep or a child cannot live by
“information alone”, but by the loving and gracious feeding of milk and solid
food. He, who takes Jesus at his word and goes at the call of Jesus, lacks
nothing. He alone is able to testify as witness of Jesus by answering the
one question exam that requires a one-word answer. “Jesus asked them, “When I sent you
without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing” they answered. In the same way and in the name of
Jesus, I ask you who are under oath before God and the cloud of witness from
the celestial and earthly realm; since Jesus called
you and chose you to be his followers, “Did you lack anything?” Your answer
should be a resounding “Nothing!” If your voice is missing from that
chorus of witnesses, I pray that soon you repent and many say of you: “He or she has been converted!” Our gospel is not a gospel of
confession of faith for the forgiveness of sin! No! The gospel is a gospel of repentance
for the forgiveness of sin. Repentance means change, just as radical as
the changing of water into wine. Repentance is conversion. Conversion is
a miracle. Miracles are the work of God. Men cannot convert anyone,
but once converted by the power of God, He can be disciple and serve to fulfill
God’s predestined and immutable destiny as the wine to the guests in the
wedding of Canaan. “Lacking Nothing,” Gerry Gutierrez PS. The secret to lack nothing, is
the same as the secret to have it all, and that secret is to give it all to
God by placing what I have, what I know, what I can and especially what I am,
at the feet of Jesus for him to help himself as he pleases.
