Gerry Gutierrez' Update
“Darkness at noon.” “The reading of that day was on
Matt. 28.”
Bright Light at the Crack of
Dawn. When baby Jesus, the light of the world came, there was light at
midnight. When Jesus the light of the world died on the cross, there was darkness at
noon. When Jesus the Light of the world came back from the death and
resurrected, there was so much light at the tomb that rough soldiers were
scared to death and trembled in great fear. These pagan soldiers could not put their trust in the Lord, in spite of so
much light and presence of Heavenly light that instead of doing the right thing
(to report to the governor Pilot as it is was proper), instead they went to the
enemies of Jesus to devise a plan to keep in the dark what their eyes had seen. There is no worse blindness and self-condemnation than to have eyes and
have seen the ÔLight of the worldÓ in Jesus but prefer darkness instead of
light. My manuscript today is written with one eye with 75% vision, while the
other eye is in its third day of recuperation from a surgery to see if it can
be salvaged from a detached retina, operated in emergency basis with general
anesthesia. No matter what we go through, we are a witness of Jesus on this earth in
order to testify. My eyes have both been slapped in two different occasions, by two different
hands one of a man and the other by a woman, one was left-handed and the other
right handed. There have been slow but steady complications and I was supposed to see a
doctor in Washington D.C. next month. But things have rapidly deteriorated due to a fall, that I had to run and
see an Eye Doctor who recommended immediate emergency surgery. A friend
gave up his doctorÕs appointment with the eye doctor to have him see me.
The following 12 hours were, to say the least, Ògoing through the shadows of
the valley of death.Ó With only half vision and half total darkness in my left eye, I have
personally discovered what real ÒdarknessÓ is all about. It was so
dangerous that the same day I saw the first doctor, only a few hours later I
was with another doctor –at three in the afternoon–in a hospital
gown with an IV in my arm and oxygen down my throat and under anesthesia in
limbo in Òanother world.Ó I am to be face down and sleep on my face and on my belly for the next 7
days in order to recuperate vision, Lord Willing. I need to be careful for next
6 to 7 months. The darkness I have seen with my blinded eyes was of such a nature that I
am prepared to testify what Òthick darknessÓ means. Half of my eyes could see things clearly while the other half was so, so
but so dark that I could not even imagine a white chalk writing something on
it. An absolute darkness if I have ever seen one. The point of the story is not self pity, but an illustration of the
absolute absence of light in Hell whereby I conclude that this is the darkness
that Jesus talks about when the wicked is thrown
out into the darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is as if by common grace that God grants the complete darkness that they
have ÒpreferredÓ is the darkness they will have, with no eyes to see anything
as not to compare their disgrace with the blessed light even from a far.
Darkness with no room but for weeping and gnashing of teeth! It is that kingdom that they preferred – the kingdom of Darkness
–when preference was an option, and in that option they will dwell
forever. By GodÕs grace, my eyes are open to the light of life in Jesus, that even
if I go blind, I will still dwell in His light. Please, pray that I might completely recuperate my vision. Gerry Gutierrez.
