Peru Pictures & Notes

Notes and pictures from Peru when Gerry was there for the National Prayer Breakfast and a preaching tour in the Andes.[ed. note]

The picture below is from the last National Prayer Breakfast in Lima. To my left is Doctor Omar Quesada Martinez the Former Mayor of Huanta as well as the Former Regional President and Present National General Secretary of the APRA party of the twice President of the Country Alan Garcia. The president Garcia is a very good friend of ours and possible President of Peru for the third time in the next election to be held in three more years.

Next to Omar Quesada is Doctor Vladimir Paz de la Barra, Former Supreme Court of Justice Judge, Three times Chairman of the Bar Association of Lawyers of all Peru. He is now the Top Member of the Constitutional Congress of Peru.

Though I do not like to use the word Discipleship or Mentoring; I have been walking with them and 10 more others on prominent places for most of our lives. They occasionally come to visit me in the USA and monitor my health as well as the health of our friendship.

I in turn get together with them as much as I can when I go to Peru. There is nothing under the sun that we do not talk about. From my part I make sure to keep my finger on the scale to tilt it toward Jesus and his person and his claims. They go to Church with me.

The one missing in the picture is Anthropologist Jose Ovidio Coronel, who is also my friend since we were seven years old. Jose works for the UNICEF in Peru and has a heart for the Children. Jose welcomed me from the pulpit of the Huanta Church the last time I preach there where he read the scripture before I preached.

Ruthie had been praying for Jose's conversion before she even began to pray for me. My father in law Harry Marshall was very happy to know about Jose's pilgrimage all the way to the pulpit.

There are others in the lime light in politics that I can not even mention for the sake of discretion and the vulnerable life of the politicians who are so prompt to scandal for any and every reason.

Our XVII National Prayer Breakfast was the best ever I remember. The speaker truly lifted the name of the Lord Jesus and give him credit for his success in life.

President Garcia could not attend due to a previous "Paid speaking engagement"  which conflicted with the same scheduled time. He sent me a very nice letter excusing himself and also expressed his condolences for Ruthie's death.

Seven of my top General Friends of the armed forces were call to an emergency meeting all of a sudden so they were not able to attend the breakfast either. But our table was full and all went well.

The most exiting part of my trip was the display of Power that our Lord has exhibited on every "Divine Appointment" that I was able to participate during the whole trip. Something unprecedented and joyful to me at this time of need in my life of reaffirmation.

The other pictures are of the breakfast itself with some of my friends.
