Gerry & Ruth Gutierrez' Prayer Letter & Update

February 19, 2012

Is Life Worthless?

As I guard Ruthie's restless and painful sleep, there is not much I can think of but what we are going through. There is a time for everything. This is the time for me to focus on us as mortal yet supernatural beings with destiny. It is a time to know myself and to know you.

By self-disclosure and feedback I am discovering what we are all about. Whether you answer or refrain from answering this letter, it is not as relevant as the dynamics of God's making that is out of my control. We are just as spectators of our own lives and your lives as you are of our lives and your own lives.

It is my adopted conviction that "The fellowship of the saints is our inheritance on this Earth". It is also of supreme value to see this fellowship as the result of the Lord Jesus's own prayer in John Seventeen. "That we may be one as the Father and the Son are one".

Oneness is the trade mark of a believer. Unity with God and one another is why our Lord Jesus died for. Unity in His terms and initiative. And as everything else is the irresistible and effectual work of God from beginning to end. "Salvation is of the Lord alone". Alleluia!.   Now let us fellowship by pen!

IS LIFE WORTHLESS?

Pedro sings a song of dispair after he takes few drinks and it goes like this: "Life is worthless, Life is Worthless. It always starts crying and crying it always end. That is why in this world Life is Worthless"

It could be said that, that is true of Pedro who sees everything under the Sun as the only reality that there is. After all Pedro does not believe in God or Heaven and the only supreme truth that he treasures is that he is better than monkeys.

But for our Ruthie who believes to be a little lower than Angels and knows that Life starts in the person of Jesus and Death is but gain; her song is different. "Beyond the Sun, beyond the Sun, I have a sweet home, sweet home beyond the Sun"

I have prayed with Ruthie one prayer many times over: "Our Father in Heaven".

This four umbrella words have been enough for us to anchor our family's small boat in the vast ocean of Gods Infinite Universe. As Death is about to "Do us part" we are thinking more and more one on the other.

I am unable to imagine life without Ruthie. And Ruthie can not imagine heaven and "Touring around" without me. She does not like the Idea of being like angels without her husband. And I red as a radish flattered by the complement of being ask to remain friends beyond the Sun reciprocated to her by telling her that I would like to put my name on the top of the list of those perfect "dudes" in heaven asking to be preferred by Ruthie for no other reason but for Seniority and my track record of having seen her first and conquering her.

If my memory does not fail me, there is a Latin Law on International Jurisprudence that deals with territorial disputes on possessions being temporarily lost and repossessed. It is call "Uti posse detis"(?) that means "Just as you used to possess". If the courts of Heaven allow me I hope to make my case under this principle to regain my Ruthie for myself for ever. (I don't hope for you to understad this. You have to be married to Ruthie)

Before you throw the book on my face let me remind you that I am a Covenant Theological Seminary Graduate and an ordained Minister from the Saint Louis Missouri Presbytery and I am fully aware of our Lord Jesus's Word on this matter of "Who's wife will she be?".

It is clear to me that this kind of talk belongs to those who err in the knowledge of scripture and ignore the power of God. For in heaven there will be no marrying or given one self in marriage. That we will be like angels.

Granted the Correction and autocorrection; I still would like to have my Ruthie as my close friend in Heaven. Angels are friendly par excellence. Ruthie taught me to stop to smell the roses and contemplate the beauty of nature and enjoy the simple things of life.

More likely her senses will be perfectly developed better than mine and I will blessed by her endless comments on everything. (I know I am talking like a fool, but love make a fool of you and it is easier if you love in a childlike manner. Try it out, it is fun.

To make my point: Life under the Sun and above the Sun is worth it all because "Our Father in Heaven" dwells beyond the blue and the earth is his foot stool. The Lord is not only our God but he is "Our Father in Heaven". Needless to say that the idea of Father and children is part of the definition of Family. We are the family of God. Families love to be together. Being apart is not the rule but the temporary exception soon to be over.

So, to the Pedro's of the world who only under the influence of alcohol have the courage to acknowledge their disgrace; I say, Come to Jesus and know Life. As the saying goes "Know Jesus and Know life. No Jesus and no live".

Once you know Jesus "Then, this, is how you should Pray: OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN". If God is your Father in Heaven, then you are his children and that is what we are to the praise of his name. Once his children we are his children for ever. We are not fatherless. We are of God created by God and for God. Created and redeemed not to be used or help God but to be loved by God". He created us to love us. Heaven is our Home, Sweet Home.

Thank you

"Our Father in Heaven".
"Hallowed be your name"
"Your Kingdom come"
"Your will be done"
"On Earth as it is done in Heaven"
"Give as this day our daily bread"
"Forgive our debts"
"As we forgive our debtors"
"Keep us from temptations"
For Your's is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Life is worth it, thanks to "Our Father in Heaven"
