Gerry & Ruth Gutierrez' Prayer Letter & Update

All Things Are A Prayer Away!

Remembering you and thanking you for remembering me.

"All things are a prayer away!"

My dream for life has been to be able to have one mind with someone so we can agree concerning anything according God’s will and so to serve God in the power of the divine and not in the strength of the flesh.

Whatever oneness I have achieved was short termed, slippery and at best like a constant effort of catching fish with my hands.

Oneness requires the personal death of the will of those who want to be one and the unconditional conscious adoption of the will of Him in whom they want to be one.

Oneness then is only possible among those who are dead in Christ, who no longer live but Christ lives in them.

The real enemy of oneness is not out-right division but togetherness: First of all, togetherness is only skin deep. Secondly togetherness gives the impression of oneness, but it is not the oneness that our Lord and Savior died for and prayed for in John 17.

”That they may be one”

The only place oneness can happen is among believers in the Church, and it starts in the family. For if oneness cannot happen between believing husbands and wives who have already become one flesh, what makes us believe that can happen between unbelieving couples as “good” as they may be?”

The pursuit of oneness is always under some thing or some one. This could be a flag, a doctrine, a code, a philosophy, a project or a name.

Blessed are we who have a “NAME UNDER HEAVEN” in whom we can be one; not by effort, but by the power of that Name and the prayers of Jesus himself.

Oneness with God whom we have not seen must be reflected in oneness with some one whom we have seen.

“The kingdom of God is not a matter of words but of Power”

Power comes from the prayers of two or three or more agreeing according God’s will.

Our Lord in his great sovereignty and grace has brought us where he wants us to be with no option but to agree whole-heartedly with each other according the mind of Christ. So that in sweet dependence finally we are experiencing the peace of his presence.

When humanly speaking we should not have the slightest hope, Hope has become more than a reality. When gloom should be the order of the day, it is joy that has taken over our lives. I am thinking more and more like Ruthie and she is thinking more and more like me.

When rejection, tediousness, dullness and disillusionment should have torn us apart, a renewed and fresh love has taken over that I dare to say is in quality much better than what we ever had before.

In our minds we are better and more qualified than ever before in our lives to serve the Lord. We are the incarnation of the American Indian proverb that says: “Good judgment comes from experience and experience come from bad judgment.”

We still believe that our years of productivity are ahead and not behind. When we were young, our ax was dull and we needed double strength for even small jobs. Now that our ax is sharp, should we stop working in our factory? I fail to see the wisdom of it.

Ruthie and I are satisfied workers and love what we do and refuse to be staring at the clock to signal the end of the day’s work. Even if the bell rings, we want to be found still sweeping and straightening out things before we pick up our lunch box to go home to rest in our Father’s house.

With the risk of sounding phony and fake but still willing to make a fool of myself I want to say:

Blessed are those who have a wife like my Ruthie.
Blessed are those who learn to listen to their wives.
Blessed are those who learn to see beyond the senses.
Blessed are those who see their wives as a gift of God.
Blessed are those who love their wives as themselves.
Blessed are those who pray “alone” for their wives.

Blessed is the woman who prays “with” her husband.
Blessed is the woman who patterns her live after the Holy Spirit.
Blessed is the woman who is a comforter to her husband.
Blessed is the woman who is helper to her husband.
Blessed is the woman who is a reminder of her husband.
Blessed is the woman who is gentle and godly to her husband.

Their love for one another IS their Testimony; without it they have no testimony. Jesus said: “They will know that you are my disciples if you love one another”.

I did not deserve Jesus or my wife; but God so loved me that He gave me Jesus and my wife.

What we write may sound like struggle without comfort. But in reality, the struggle is comfort as well. The struggle has brought us closer together than ever before. OUR ONENESS HAS PUT EVERYTHING A PRAYER AWAY.

We are being comforted and we hope that you are being comforted with the same comfort with which we are being comforted. We have the confidence that our prayers have no hindrance of any kind. An army of intercessors has pushed us up right in front of the throne of God. We have presented our petitions and registered our complaints and held a copy of God’s promises. We intend to struggle with God to the wee hours of the morning. Stage one or stage four of cancer does not matter before God. ALL THINGS ARE A PRAYER AWAY!

Counting with your prayers and thanking you for holding our hands. Sickness and death are evil. Health and life are good. Let us ask, knock and seek for health and life. God is good. Let us ask for nothing but a miracle. We need a miracle. Nothing short of a miracle, oh Lord.

Not as a wicked generation asks for a miracle in order to believe but because we already believe. We ask for a miracle as we would ask for our daily bread. Give us this day healing and restoration for a body that is your property, oh Lord. Please do it for your own name’s sake. We ask you in the name of Jesus, your Son, our intercessor. Amen and Amen.

Gerry and Ruthie and all of us who pray and love you dear Lord.
