Gerry & Ruth Gutierrez' Prayer Letter & Update
A VOICE OF ONE CALLING IN THE ANDES Dear Friends; In our effort to prepare the way for the Lord’s second coming, we have started a radio ministry – a ministry tohelp people make straight paths in the mountains. “A Highway for our God!” Those huge mountains and deep valleys that separate us from the highland people are being made level by the radio waves. The rough places are becoming plain as the message of the Gospel of our Lord is being revealed. Our hope is that all people will see it together. “For the mouth of the Lord has spoken”. Isaiah 40:3-5 After only two months of broadcasting “Food for Thought”, it is reaching over the Andes through Radio Amauta in Spanish and Quechua. Manuel Huaman Huachaca of the village of Hatunwasi in the province of La Mar – Tambo (South), came over the mountains a day’s journey to Radio Amauta in Huanta, where he said to Mr. Santillana the administrator, “I have come to thank you for “Food for Thought”. We listen to it every day. Then from the East, from the village of Uchuraqay, came three men over the Rasuhillca Mountains to thank for the new daily program, “Food for Thought, which in Quechua is “Food for our memory”. Their names are Domingo, Ricardo and Efrain. From the West Felix Choccelan Arango of the remote village of Mesaccocha in the state of Huancavelica, the province of Angaraes in the district of Secclla says that he has been a faithful listener since the messages have been airing. From the North in the capital city of Lima, Dr. Raul Criales has requested the messages via Internet to spread them out among his friends and clients. The President of the country is also listening to the messages. A request from Ruthie’s surgeon Dr. Carlos Vildosola from the Anglo-American clinic was personally made to me that I send him the messages via Internet. Professor Jose Coronel, who is an executive officer of UNICEF, said that he has asked his staff to listen to the messages of “Food for Thought”. Dr. Omar Quesada, general secretary of the ruling party, is studying the possibility of airing the messages at a national level. Young leaders from other denominations are asking for more messages. The radio waves have made the rough places straight to the far away villages. The board of directors of Radio Amauta is more than thankful that we are on the air. Richard Andia walked into his home during the lunch hour with the news that the President was in town – only to be hushed by his father (who refused to come to our church) …”sh, sh, Professor Gerardo Gutierrez is on the air”. Omar Soto had an accident, but from his bed of sickness he requested all the messages of “Food for Thought” to be sent to him via the Internet. When Nathaniel asked the Administrator of Radio Amauta from how far is he receiving feed back from the listeners, he answered: Brazil, Venezuela, England. Even though we are in the USA, I am working harder than ever to finish on time my edited version of my messages to make on time via Internet to be aired at 1 & 7 P.M. Thank the Lord with us for the tremendous response of the listeners. Of a voice who claim from the mountains. The Pastor of the Andes.
